After the critical and commercial success of the horror comedy, Zombieland it’s no surprise that director Ruben Fleischer has been swamped with more movie offers. According to Reuters,  the world is Fleischer’s oyster and several high profile projects have been thrown his way. The question is what will he choose, and what will he pass on?

Zombieland Publicity Picture 191 Zombieland Sequel in the Future?

This past weekend the Ruben Fleischer horror-comedy Zombieland dominated the box office with a cool 25 million dollar opening, which isn’t bad for an R-rated movie. Many positive reviews have come in from both fans and critics, so it’s no surprise that sequel rumors are starting to circulate. Over at MTV, they spoke to the film’s screenwriter Paul Wernick who seems to be more than happy to work on a follow up.

Weekend Box Office: Zombieland for the Win!

Zombieland09 9 304 Weekend Box Office: Zombieland for the Win!

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs gets knocked off it’s two week reign at number one by the “nut up or shut up” comedic thriller Zombieland. It’s funny that Cloudy and Zombieland seem to be repeating the same pattern of Up and Drag Me to Hell had earlier this year. Both came out two weeks apart and got similar numbers – interesting. Apparently people either want a kid’s animation or a violent comedy. Personally I think both sets of films make for a great double feature so someone is doing a great job scheduling these releases..

Sadly, (only sad because I love Ricky Gervais, not because the movie was that great) The Invention of Lying was not the next Hangover in terms of numbers. In fact it wasn’t even the next Proposal.

Check out this weeks numbers and the two smaller films that made the list below…

Poll: Zombieland Cameo

Zombieland09 9 306 Poll: Zombieland Cameo

With all the buzz about the mysterious Zombieland cameo (yes it is absolutely amazing and well worth the price of the film and no we’re not going to tell you who it is) we wondered who you were hoping it would be? Although it was rumored that the writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had their eyes set only on Patrick Swayze, that’s just not true (we still love you Swayze!). Swayze was one of the many people the approached for the role and sadly he had to turn down the role due to his fight with cancer.

As we heard from one of the writers at the press conference (read full write up) many people were being considered….

There were any number of actors considered, it’s a long list. Patrick Swayze, Joe Pesci, The Rock, Mark Hamill, Bill Murray, Kevin Bacon, Matthew McConaughey, Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Segal, we had a long list of drafts that we wrote to attract and individual actor and it ended well…

Out of this list who would you like to see?

Zombieland Press Conference: Eisenberg, Harrelson, Stone…

zz67370797 Zombieland Press Conference: Eisenberg, Harrelson, Stone...

Last week out on Santa Monica pier Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, director Ruben Fleischer and the two writers of the film Rhett Reese and Paul Wernic all got together once again (check out the videos from the press conference at Comic-Con) to talk about Zombieland! I kind of wish they would have had some people, better yet, children like the one above dressed as zombies to jump out and scare the journalists. Sadly, that never happened, although they did talk about killing them some zombies, Harrelson’s plea to Hostess to make a healthy Twinkie, their most cathartic moments in making it, and of course, the mysterious CAMEO which shall go un-named… for now.

Check out what the group had to say about making a comedic zombie film…

Zombieland Publicity Picture 71 New Zombieland Photos of the Cast on Set

Last night I was able to attend a screening of Zombieland and although I can’t say anything about it just yet (damn embargo!), I will say it was EXACTLY what I was hoping for from a crazy horror, action, comedy. Check out photos from the film and of cast members Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and director Ruben Fleischeron hanging around on set below.

The film is filled with as many different types of zombies as you could possibly imagine, below is just a taste of some of the insane zombies Fleischeron came up with for his film…
