Well, he’s not exactly bald, and doesn’t quite have the screen presence of Gene Hackman, but it looks like Zack Snyder’s reboot of the Superman franchise may have found its ultimate nemesis for Supes—Bradley Cooper as the follicly-challenged genius baddy Lex Luthor. Spoilers ahead!
After spending 12 years chasing after sexual predators on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (part of the Law and Order: Seriously, All We Have To Do Is Make A Show That At Least Peripherally Pertains to the Justice System, Slap ‘Law and Order’ On As the First Part of the Name, And You’ll Watch This Crap TV universe), Christopher Meloni has decided not only to call it quits on SVU, he’s decided to join forces with the Man of Steel.
Well, the Superman news just keeps on coming—just yesterday, director Zach Snyder was revealing that his version of Superman, The Man of Steel, won’t adhere to Richard Donner’s original cinematic mythos of the character, and now The Hollywood Reporter has it that Kevin Costner has “closed a deal to join the cast of Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ new Superman movie.”
Time for some kick-ass chick music to and support the estrogen bad-assery of Zach Snyder’s upcoming film Sucker Punch. The director boosts that the film is like “Alice In Wonderland with machine guns” – big shoes to fill… I like it! Today in meathead movie news, 300 director Zack Snyder told Coming Soon that his 2006 capes, loincloths and abs epic may be receiving the ubiquitous 3-D treatment and a re-release from Warner Brothers. While it’s a completely unnecessary money-grubbing move concerning a movie that was fairly bone-headed to begin with, it would remind us all of a time when Gerard Butler seemed remotely cool before falling into the icy rom-com clutches of Jennifer Aniston and Katherine Heigl.
Some of you thought that Watchmen couldn’t be any longer, well guess what, you haven’t seen the half of it. Zach Snyder will be releasing his Directors cut of them film on DVD and Blu-Ray with a hell of a lot of special features including many deleted scenes. Below is one of said scenes which gives us more background on the death of the original Nite Owl, Hollis Mason (Stephen McHattie) as well as more about he and Sally Jupiter’s (Carla Gugino) relationship.
I can see why this was cut, and would have been happy with it staying that way. The scene starts with a shot of the Tales of the Black Freighter comic book and some “Knot Tops” mocking the “comic-book guy.” I can see why Snyder would have got a kick out of filming this and audiences would have enjoyed it. That being said, everything after this moment goes downhill fast. The “Knot Tops” painfully deliver some unnecessary exposition before running off to track down and kill Mason and then we get even more unecessary dialogue between Mason and Jupiter.
