This weekend, Natalie Portman was able to capitalize on the buzz generated from her Golden Globe win as her new film No Strings Attached opened at number 1 as we predicted .The Green Hornet showed a decent hold coming in at number 2, also as we predicted, dropping less then 50% ,while the The Dilemma fell to number 3.

After it was all said and done The Green Hornet opened slightly below my prediction to open at #1 with $33.7M, while The Dilemma bombed with $17.8M, and True Grit held strong at #3 with $10.9M.

It’s 2011 folks! Time for new beginnings and… wait, there’s no new movies, at least not on the top 10. Even though everyone seemed to take a break from Blue Valentine and Another Year this past weekend, the Little Fockers was still hard at work. The Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro movie exceeded $100k during the new year weekend with Yogi Bear and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader right behind it.

Twenty years later, the world gets Tron: Legacy (read review). The much anticipated film opened this weekend and it topped the box office charts with $43.6 million. The Warner Bros. animated film Yogi Bear (read review) came in at No. 2, but didn’t make anything close to the Sci-fi film which stars Jeff Bridges, Garret Hedlund, and Olivia Wilde.
