After getting hit with a double whammy—his upcoming Wolverine sequel was set to be directed by Darren Aronofsky and filmed in Japan before Aronofsky quit, and Japan was besieged by an earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear reactor leaks—Hugh Jackman recently spoke with Coming Soon about losing the director and, potentially, the shooting locations.

How is this possible? I thought we all agreed that X-Men Origins: Wolverine belonged in a poo pile along with several other Fox comic based movies? The newly released DVD did monumentally well when it hit store shelves this past week. The title came in at number one on both the sales and rental charts for the week ending in September 20th.

moviereleaseskj09 04 30 Movie Releases: Wolverine, Battle for Terra, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past...

This week marks the beginning of some big movie releases. The highly-anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine is finally being released. The movie is supposedly entertaining, but not quite up to par. If you are a fan of the series, you should see it, just don’t set your hopes to high. The movie, Battle for Terra, was completed over two years ago and will only now be released in theater. How many edits did they go through? The two limited releases, The Limits of Control and Revanche have both gotten fairly decent reviews. The final release this week is the Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey chick-flick, The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Something tells me if you are lacking a vagina, you will not enjoy this movie.

Here are the movie releases for the week of May 1st:

5 Wolverine Character Profiles

wolverine09 4 13 5 Wolverine Character Profiles

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is right around the corner now. Only a few weeks to go and MTV has just premiered 5 new 30 second character profiles for Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), Gambit (Taylor Kitsch), Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), and Wraith (Will.i.am).

My favorite is Deadpool, because I like characters who are sarcastic and completely crazy. You can definitely see why they were/are considering giving him his own film. He’s an extremely interesting character to watch and Ryan Reynolds is perfect for the part.

Check out the videos below and let us know which one is your favorite!

New Wolverine Photos – For the Ladies

wolverine209 2 27b New Wolverine Photos For the Ladies

Well, maybe not just for the ladies. I’m sure many of you gent’s out there can appreciate his razor sharp claws jetting out of his skin, but man oh man it sure seems like they’re trying to sell Hugh Jackman to the ladies. Not that he needs much selling, he had had quite an impressive year.

What I love about these pictures is that without any special effects or crazy make-up he doesn’t look human. His face, body, everything just screams Wolverine. I can’t wait for this film.

Check out three new photos of Hugh Jackman for X-Men Origins: Wolverine below…

Third Wolverine TV Spot

sabretoothhands09 2 18 Third Wolverine TV Spot

I warn you, this third and final TV spot for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has a bit too many spoilers for me. In fact, I kind of wish that I hadn’t seen it. I think we have enough back story. I was sold when I saw the first HD trailer. Let’s get to the movie or else leave it be. Perhaps they peaked too soon with their material and now they’re trying to keep the buzz going. The movie doesn’t even come out until May. I’m not sure why they’re showing us so much, but I’m ready to see this film and stop watching clips.

There are some new characters that pop up in this one and I don’t even want to say their names because I think it’s nice to be surprised by those types of things. It’s a cool clip, it shows a lot of the amazing special effects that have gone into the action sequences and it rounds out the film. If you’re someone who is not easily put off by a few minor spoilers you can check out the video below. But, if you’re like me, I would suggest you divert your eyes back to other Wolverine material.
