When 2009′s Wolverine was about to hit theaters, a workprint hit the internet. Though the effects were incomplete it became a news story, and it was the biggest film to hit the pirate circuit pre-release. Piracy is still a huge problem for the industry, and those involved speculated that the leak cost the film untold millions of dollars. Now the person who leaked the film has been sentenced to a year term in federal prison, according to Deadline.

The Wolverine news keeps chugging along as even more info has been released regarding the upcoming sequel. We recently learned that the film will begin shooting in April, and that Darren Aronofsky just set up a two-year production deal with 20th Century Fox. Even though his future looks big and bright, the director recently admitted to SHH that he hasn’t fully delved into The Wolverine because he’s busy promoting his latest film, Black Swan. As a matter of fact, a script hasn’t even been finalized yet.

Darren Aronofsky has finally signed on the dotted lined and made a formal announcement regarding his next directing gig. Over the past month, we’ve pretty much known that the Black Swan helmer was set to take over where Gavin Hood left off (shudder) in Fox’s Wolverine franchise. According to THR, not only will he direct the sequel which is entitled, The Wolverine, but he’ll also produce other projects for the studio over the next two years.

Over the past few weeks, 20th Century Fox has been courting Darren Aronofky to direct their upcoming sequel, Wolverine 2. The movie is a follow up to the commercially successful but critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 2009. Over the last few days, it seems that Aronofsky has been inching closer and closer to the project. He even turned down an offer from Warner Bros to direct Tales From The Gangster Squad. The countdown to Darren Aronofsky directing Wolverine 2 can officially begin. One obstacle that was in the film’s way was the Warner Bros production Tales From the Gangster Squad. Aronofsky was being heavily courted for the project after the studio decided to hire Zack Snyder to direct the Superman reboot Man of Steel, which Aronofsky was also in the running for. According to Deadline, he’s opted against directing Gangster Squad, which leaves the door wide open for Wolvie.
