What a morning for trailers! The Wolfman is now online, just after the first Avatar was released. We’ve all been waiting for the first look at Joe Johnston’s film starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving and now it’s finally here.
A little something to take with you into the trailer…
Even a man who is pure of heart
And says his prayers by night
May become a wolf
When the wolfsbane blooms
And the autumn moon is bright.
Apparently, it’s an Old Gypsy poem that quite obviously goes with the film. Watch the trailer and check out three new pictures from the film below…

Even though its release date has been pushed back several times, the updated Wolf Man film continues to put out promotional material. Over at Bloody Disgusting, a few new photos have been released and they feature stars Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt in action. They mostly show del Toro in his “man state” as opposed to his werewolf counterpart, but it’s better than nothing.

Is the modern day remake of the Wolf Man horror classic cursed? How much can this poor film take? According to several media outlets including Variety, the film has been pushed back for not the second, not the third, but the fourth time! It won’t be released this year at all, and has been bumped to 2010 instead. Universal Pictures have shifted it’s release from later this fall to early next year, where it will compete with films of a more romantic caliber.

There have been rumors/news of re-shoots on the set of Joe Johnston‘s The Wolfman for some time now, but nobody knew what or why they were re-shooting. A total of six weeks to be exact. According to Baz Bamigboye, the “Wolfman” was not quite up to par, as “the Wolf was on its heels and it looked daft.” They are reshooting the scenes with the newly beefed up Wolfman. There is news that a new scene compliments the new “Wolfman.” Bamigboye quoted the studio saying…

Let’s hope that for this film, no news is good news. The last we heard of The Wolf Man was of it getting pushed back several months, from April to November, hopefully because they wanted to perfect their art and not for any other reasons. For those of you who don’t know who Rick Baker is, he’s an Academy Award-winning special effects makeup artist genius. You’ve probably seen his work in many of your favorite films including, King Kong (1976), Star Wars, Men in Black, The Ring, X-Men, and MANY more. He’s just posted some of his concept art for Benicio Del Toro’s transformation in Joe Johnson’s The Wolf Man on zbrushcentral.com. It’s really amazing. Check it out below… Continue Reading

“The Goonies” come together to conquer Dracula and company in “The Monster Squad.” Almost as moving as “Stand By Me” and cooler than “Explorers,” “Monster Squad” pays tribute to all those elementary school dorks who obsess over Stephen King. Penned by Shane Black (”Lethal Weapon and “Last Boy Scout”), the script boasts thick, dark sarcasm and one of the most memorable movie lines of all time (hint: nards). If you’re in the market, mark your calendars. The New Beverly will project this FOUR nights in a row! That’s Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This week March 19-22. And stick around as “Monster Squad” screens back to back with alien-brain-eating-parasite-zombie classic “Night of the Creeps.”
At the New Beverly (Map). Wednesday through Saturday, 7:30. as well as an extra show on Saturday at 3:55. Tickets at the door.
While we’re talking 80’s absurdity, see “Clue” at Arclight Sherman Oaks (Map).Monday, March 17 at 8:00. Tickets Here.
In related news, Universal Studios has signed a six-year deal with Hasbo to adapt more board games and toys into motion pictures. “G.I. Joe“ is currently filming for 2009 release. More possible titles include “Monopoly,” “Battleship,” “Candyland,” and “Magic: The Gathering.” Ridely Scott’s attached at the “Monopoly” project. Seriously.
