Winnie the Pooh is Walt Disney’s second most recognizable character (behind Mickey Mouse), but he hasn’t had much of a big screen presence since the 1970′s. Tom Kenny is one of those performers who name means different things to different generations. Some associate him with his time as Tomkat to Bob Goldthwait’s Bobcat. Others may know him as one of the regulars on Mr. Show, while an entire generation has grown up with him as the voice of Spongebob Squarepants. He’s currently voicing the character of Rabbit in Winnie the Pooh, and we got a chance to talk with him about voice acting, the community of voice actors, and the controversy around Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Directors Stephen Anderson and Don Hall have been kicing around Disney for over a decade, and are old hands (though not as old as Burny Mattinson) with animation. Disney is in the development stage for a new hand-drawn animated Winnie the Pooh movie. The movie is currently set to be released in 2011 and this is not one of the gobs of straight-to-DVD that Disney releases; they’re planning on a big theatrical release.
If you’re like me, you’re wondering where the hell this came from. Why go back to Pooh? Apparently, Winnie the Pooh is the second-largest licensed character behind Mickey Mouse.

What does Mark Miller’s graphic novel Wanted and the children’s classic Winnie the Pooh have in common? On the surface it seems like absolutely nothing, but Universal saw something and they’re going to use it. According to THR, the studio has just hired a writer for the sequel to the 2008 comic blockbuster and it’s none other than Evan Spiliotopoulos. He’s the guy who co-wrote the screenplay for Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, and it’s Halloween spin-off.
