Although the Watchmen came in at the top of the chart , it didn’t create the HUGE box office splash that Snyder had probably hoped for. Now we’ll have to see how long until they’ve made back the $150 million they spent. I personally thought that the film broke new grounds, but that’s not always enough for the box office. Except in the case of Slumdog Millionaire, which in it’s 17th week on the charts you can still find roaming around the top 5 spots. Go Slumdog!
Sadly, what this list also shows is that films like Madea Goes to Jail and Paul Blart have legs, which is BAD, BAD news for the future of filmmaking. Although on the plus side the Jonas Brothers film seems to be dying a quick death, so there is some hope there.

Paramount just released the latest trailer for this summer’s upcoming prequel, Star Trek. If your one of the lucky ones who’ve already seen Watchmen, the trailer debuts in front of the film. In my opinion this one is a lot better than the first. You get to see a lot more footage, and gain some insight into how Kirk became the captain of the Enterprise. The thing I like the most is how they change the image of Spock. I wasn’t a fan of the angry version they showed the first time around. It just threw me off.

These days, a film generating a healthy amount of buzz on the internet weeks or months prior to its release is nothing unusual, but the amount of hype surrounding the March 6th release of Watchmen is bordering on unhealthy. Don’t get me wrong, I hope Watchmen kills at the box office and I suspect it likely will. It’s not like it has a lot of competition, and a big opening weekend could give it the momentum it needs to be a certified blockbuster. Nevertheless, it certainly has some factors working against it. Are any of these things enough to turn Watchmen into a full on box office disaster?

Warner Bros. has launched what they’re calling “6 Minutes to Midnight” what I call “another online distraction to drive me mad!”
What it is, is a series of Rorschach tests administered to you by Rorschach himself after he gives you a little sneak-peek at his life. Every time you get one of the images right you unlock new footage from Watchmen, up to 10 minutes in total. Every time you get one wrong, Rorschach insults you. It’s fun! Almost every character makes an appearance and we get Rorschach’s perspective of them. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, but it’s always something new.

Well, we’re kicking off Watchmen week with a one on one exclusive interview with Rorschach himself, Jackie Earle Haley. Anyone who has read the novel knows what a bad-ass character Rorschach is, so it was dire that Zack Snyder find the perfect man for the role. I am so glad that Jackie decided to cpme back to acting after a 15 year break and that Snyder decided to take a chance with him. I couldn’t imagine ANYONE more perfect for the role than Jackie. He and the Comedian were by far the two most entertaining characters to watch (other than Dr. Manhattan’s penis of course).
Jackie himself if completely unlike his character. From his soft voice to his overall peaceful demeanour, there does not seem to be an evil bone in his body. He very kindly offered me a drink as I sat down and he confessed that after a long day of promoting, coffee was the only thing keeping him going. That being said, that coffee must have been strong, because he sure wasn’t short on things to say.
