According to Variety, the award winning director will join forces with funny man Vince Vaughn for his latest feature. This week the Bora Bora comedy, Couples Retreat with Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Faizon Love and Kali Hawk hits theaters. With so many comedians all jam packed into one film, I’m sure you’re all looking forward to seeing your favorite actor strut their stuff in a laugh out loud comedy. Sadly, it’s not that movie. This is definitely a film that was more fun to shoot than it was to watch.

This week in theaters, Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman lead the way as the “normal couple” in Peter Billingsley’s first mainstream comedy, Couples Retreat. The film focuses on four couples who all go to Bora Bora to save or enhance their relationships, with many bumps in the road all the couples find their way to their own happy ending.

The feature film adaptation of Walter Kirn’s novel, Up in the Air has become the tale of two Jason’s. According to Variety, Jason Reitman is attached to direct the Dreamworks film about “a corporate downsizer who is obsessed with collecting frequent flyer miles at the expense of having a life.” This no life having downsizer will be played by none other than George Clooney, with Jason Bateman co-starring as his boss.

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon make for an interesting yet enjoyable couple in the new Seth Gordon holiday flick – Four Christmases. The movie revolves around the pair and their trials as they have to go to four different homes of their divorced families for Christmas.
The supporting cast has as much to do with how funny the film turned out as Vaughn and Witherspoon, as stars like Robert Duvall (Vaughn’s dad), Sissy Spacek (Vaughn’s mother), Jon Voight (Witherspoon’s dad), and Jon Favreau (Vaugh’s cage fighting UFC brother), all have very solid parts that keep the film flowing.

There’s nothing more frustrating that a wasted premise, and this movie might be the most frustrating of them all. What a great idea! An alcoholic and depressed superhero that everybody hates. Seems like a perfect vehicle for an action comedy, precisely what this movie is for about 15 minutes until it becomes a ridiculous piece of melodrama.
