The journey to Kick-Ass 2 has been a long and arduous one. First, the film was rumored to be in development, was then officially greenlit, and then quickly scurried into non-development as everyone involved appeared to be simply too busy to film the sequel to the 2010 cult hit. Now, however, it seems that Universal is swooping in like a caped crusader to rescue the film from the violent throes of development hell.

Wow. You know, you’ve got to respect a guy that is a straight shooter, who tells you how it is. It’s a sure sign of integrity when a guy can tell you he’s made a mistake, right? Or maybe it’s just indicative of someone who is so amazingly, filthy rich that he can pretty much say anything without consequence. Do you remember back when Drew Barrymore was still a precocious kid who starred in such films as E.T.The Extra-Terrestrial and Babes in Toyland? Out of all her early movies one of our favorites was based on a Stephen King novel called Firestarter. It was adapted into a feature film in 1984 that was directed by Mark L. Lester. According to Variety, Universal plans on producing a remake that will possibly be the first of many installments in a Firestarter series.
