The winner of the 2011 Academy Award for Best Original Song is Randy Newman for Toy Story 3. The composer spoke about being nominated 20 times and only winning twice including this year. The winner of the 2011 Academy Award for Best Animated Film is Toy Story 3, no surprise there. Lee Unkrich accepted the award on behalf of the rest of the cast and crew. He thanked his parents and said “thank you to audiences all over the world who came out in historic numbers and embraced a movie about talking toys that hopefully had something very human to say.”

As expected, Toy Story 3 walked away with the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 68th Annual Golden Globes. Sunday evening the honor was accepted by director Lee Unkrich, who made a crack to presenters Justin Bieber and Hailee Steinfeld about them not being born when the first Toy Story came out. This film is pretty much a shoe in to win in the same category at the Oscars.

It looked as if Toy Story 3 and The King’s Speech were going to ride a successful wave all the way to the Oscars considering their recent award nominations but unfortunately the WGA has thrown a monkey wrench into that plan. Toy Story 3 has turned into a box office juggernaut. Not only is it the highest grossing Pixar film ever produced, it’s the highest grossing animated film of all time. Now the studio has announced that Toy Story 3 will cross the billion dollar mark by the end of today making it the second Disney film to do so this year (following Alice in Wonderland).

A couple of days ago we reported that this summer’s Toy Story 3 had become the highest grossing Pixar film ever produced but the buck doesn’t stop there. According to EW, Buzz and Woody had to take it a step further beyond their studio. Toy Story 3 has annihilated the record books and moved on to world domination. It’s now been named the highest grossing animated film of all time — period!
