Because beating an idea to death is what we all know and love Hollywood for, a long-rumored sequel to the runaway comedy hit The Hangover is now in production. One question that’s been lingering about the sequel, though, was where would it take place? What location could possibly live up to the glittery decadence and depravity that is so deeply ingrained within Las Vegas, the setting of the first film?
Well, if you’re director Todd Phillips, you set your sights high for the comedy gold that’s to be mined out of a country renowned for its 30,000 underage prostitutes and forced human trafficking/ sexual slavery: Thailand! Yes, that Far East hotbed of international intrigue and soulless human exploitation is now confirmed by an inside source to be the setting of the upcoming Hangover 2.

The first trailer for Todd Phillips follow up to the 2009 megahit The Hangover is Due Date. It reunites the director with actor Zach Galifianakis and brings on newbies Robert Downey Jr, Michelle Monaghan, and Jamie Foxx. Todd Phillips didn’t waste anytime working on the sequel to last summer’s hit, The Hangover. The director recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and gave a script update, and dished about a couple of changes that he’s made in terms of the film’s location. In the last movie, Las Vegas was almost a secondary character but Phillips says it won’t be the focal point the next time around.

Michelle Monaghan has been cast in the upcoming Todd Phillips comedy, Due Date. According to Collider the actress will star as the female lead opposite Robert Downey Jr., and Zach Galifianakis. This will be a reunion for Monaghan and Downey who previously starred together in the 2005 film, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It will also be the reteaming for Phillips and Galifianakis who were both a part of this summer’s hit, The Hangover.

The rumors regarding the follow up to the “surprise” hit The Hangover was put to rest when it blew away its competition with its June debut. The film gave some well earned exposure to stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, and Zach Galifianakis.
