Jamie Bell plays a very important role in the upcoming motion-capture, 3D epic, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. He’s the title character in the adaptation that’s helmed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. We recently spoke with Bell at the press junket for The Eagle and he talked about his love for Tintin but his initial reluctance to do motion capture because he had no idea what the technology entailed. He also spoke about the film’s story and whether or not he thinks it will appeal to American audiences.

Last week we got our first real look at Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s upcoming collaboration, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, which featured a photo of Jamie Bell as Tintin and Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock. The digital effects company Weta has wrapped production on James Cameron‘s Avatar, but they still have plenty of work on their plates. According to MarketSaw, the Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson collaboration of Tintin is their next order of business, which will be followed by the upcoming film, The Hobbit.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen or heard anything regarding the Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg collaboration, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Over at the Spanish movie site Estrenosdecine, they’ve posted a new set photo featuring the two directors hard at work. From the looks of it, the pair are seriously submerging themselves in the computer generated world that they’ve created for the film.

Today at the Entertainment Weekly Visionary panel, James Cameron and Peter Jackson’s discussion was cut short when a crazy fan hopped on stage. Not only did this random guy interrupt the flow of the panel, but he had the audacity to go up to Peter Jackson, and steal his glass of water! He literally had enough time to pour a pitcher of water, lean over the man, take his glass, and sip a bit before the security escorted him off the stage. I think these two handled themselves quite well, but check out the video for yourself after the jump!

The Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson adaptation of the European story Tintin has finally gotten a release date for the U.S. and abroad. The film that is officially titled The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, is being co-financed by Sony and Paramount Studios. According to THR, they’ve both agreed to start rolling the film out during the final quarter of 2011.

The European comic phenomenon, Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn has recently become an important part of American cinema. Ever since directing powerhouses Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson decided to invest in making it a live action feature it has become a staple on movie blogs all over the net. According to FirstShowing, there will be an exclusive interview with the directors featured in the 20th anniversary issue of Empire Magazine. Even though their already finished with the first installment, the directors assure us that there’s more work to be done.

- Another box office record has been shattered by The Dark Knight. It has become the fourth film ever to gross over one billion dollars in worldwide box office sales. The film now joins the company of Titanic, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. [Superherohype]
- Check out some exclusive footage from this summer’s Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen. In the promotional video Shia Labeouf and Josh Duhamel talk about the film’s locations, the story, and their director Michael Bay. Be warned it’s very loud! [MTV]
- Two familiar faces are teaming up again. Academy Award winner John Williams will compose the score for Steven Spielberg’s Tintin. Williams has previously worked with the director on countless films including, Jurassic Park and E.T.: The Extraterrestrial. [LatinoReview]
- An official release date has finally been set for the third installment of the “Twilight Saga.” Eclipse will be released on June 30, 2010. It will be the second sequel in the franchise following New Moon, which debuts in theaters this year on November 20. [ShockTillYouDrop]
