A lot of us were wondering when the trailers for next year’s comic book movies were going to debut and lo’ and behold, we’ve got one! Warner Bros has released a teaser for their big screen adaptation of The Green Lantern. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character and to be honest this movie doesn’t look anything like we thought it would. Is that a good or bad thing? You be the judge…
We just saw the first footage from The Green Lantern at Comic-Con 2010 with Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Mark Strong (who are all here at the panel). The footage is still very raw seeing as the film doesn’t even come out for another year and they’re still shooting – frankly it’s impressive they had so much so soon!
Earlier today we got our first glimpse of Ryan Reynolds decked out in his official Green Lantern costume and now several more photos have popped up from the film. They feature Blake Lively, Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett, and an unrecognizable Peter Sarsgaard. The images will appear in the special Comic-Con issue of Entertainment Weekly that’s set to hit stands next week but you can take a quick peek at them right now…
Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini join Diane Lane in HBO Films’ Cinema Verite. The film which was written by David Seltzer shows a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking documentary “An American Family.” The film is being directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini and produced by Gavin Polone and Zanne Devine.
The Green Lantern movie has gained a little credibility with its latest casting of Oscar winner Tim Robbins. According to THR, Robbins has signed on to the Warner Bros big screen adaptation of the DC comic of the same name, where he’ll join Ryan Reynolds as the title character, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, and Peter Sargaard as Hector Hammond.

Last week, the always outspoken Tim Robins complained publicly about not being able to vote, as previously reported. His polling place had no record of him as a voter, causing him to search out a judge for the proof of his eligibility.
New information has now surfaced, this time from a more reputable source than TMZ. The New York Times has stated that the elections board is calling all of Robbins’ voting difficulties his own fault.
Recently, Tim Robbins, Saoirse Ronan, and Bill Murray came together in New York to talk about their new film City of Ember directed by Gil Kenan, which will be in theaters October 10th. Tim, Saoirse, and Bill all joked around with one another and seemed to have a lot of respect for one another. Everyone seemed to want Tim to answer the political-types questions to which he answered,”I’m not takin’ that one. I always took that one.” The new commer (if you can still call her that) Saoirse Ronan, seemed to hold her own among the two film legends and even challenge them at times. At one point she tells Tim he can’t be in the sequel and when Bill says, I’m “boring you to tears” she says “yeah.” Bill Murray was extremely charming and sharp witted as he spoke about City of Ember as well as settling some rumors on the new Ghostbusters.
Without further ado, the three members of the City of Ember cast, Tim Robbins, Saoirse Ronan, and Bill Murray…
Based on the on the 2003 novel of the same name by Jeanne Duprau, “City of Ember,” directed by Gil Kenan, is about two children, Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow, who live in the City of Ember, which was built underground to last for 200 years. Having reached its tenure, Ember’s energy sources begin to fade, due to a generator malfunction. It is up to Lina and Doon to search for clues to unlock ancient mysteries about their city, to save it and its people before it’s too late.
Starring Bull Murray, Saorise Ronan, Harry Treadaway, Martin Landau and Tim Robbins, The actual city of Ember was built in a paint hall in the shipyard of Harland and Wolff in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. “City of Ember” was also filmed in England, Romania, Berlin and Prague and is slated for release on October 10, 2008.
