Disney has released the first official synopsis for Tim Burton’s upcoming film Frankenweenie. The movie is a remake of a short Burton made as a college student back in 1984. Over 25 years have passed since it was released and he’s got the funds, the time, the energy, and the acting talent to reboot it. Check out the synopsis and cast list below…
Just yesterday we learned that Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate were in talks to join Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows adaptation, and today another actor can be added to the list. According to Deadline, French star Eva Green has been cast in the film as the female lead opposite Johnny Depp.

It will be one big reunion for Tim Burton on his upcoming film Frankenweenie. According to Deadline, some of the major players for the remake of his 1984 short have been revealed. It looks like the director went through his filmography and decided to get the band back together with Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, and Martin Short.
Back in March we reported that Tim Burton was interested in creating a new version of The Addams Family. If you remember, the last time we saw the creepy family on screen was in 1993 with Addams Family Values, which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. According to Deadline, Burton is ready to put his own dark twist on the series and he’s getting a little help from the writers of his 1994 feature, Ed Wood.
Another board game adaptation is in the works and this time Tim Burton is behind it. According to THR, DreamWorks has been trying to get Burton to move from creative consultant to director of their latest adaptation, Monsterpocalypse. So far they’ve been unsuccessful but they were able to get his frequent collaborator John August to pen the screenplay.
Remember how Tim Burton went from being the director with original films like Beetlejuice, Batman, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, and Edward Scissorhands to the man who reinterprets all the movies from your childhood (Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland). Well, according to SlashFilm, he’s set to do it again with a full-length remake of his own 1984 short film, Frankenweenie. In 3-D… Of course.

The morbidly Gothic clan was last seen in theaters in The Addams Family Values back in 1993 and now Tim Burton wants to put his spin on the unconventional story.
