Over the past month, a dark cloud has been hovering over the miniseries The Kennedys. The project was originally produced for The History Channel, but shortly after its completion the network decided not to air it. The film was left in limbo and no one, (we mean no one) wanted to pick it up. Luckily for them, another cable network has finally come to their rescue — ReelzChannel.

The Kennedys is a prime example of a lot of hard work gone to waste. The big budget miniseries was supposed to air on The History Channel, to mark its first entry into scripted television but after watching the finished product the network decided against it. Apparently, the film doesn’t meet their standards of historical accuracy. There were rumors that the made for TV movie was being packaged and pitched to other networks such as Showtime, who has a history of picking up renegade features but according to EW, they don’t want it either.

The cable network was preparing to air a big-budget mini-series entitled, The Kennedys, which centers on the politically charged title characters. A few weeks ago it was announced that Rachel Weisz was set to star as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a feature film directed by Darren Aronofsky. Now according to Vulture, Katie Holmes has signed on to play the former First Lady as well. Holmes’ incarnation will be on the small screen in a made for TV movie aptly titled, The Kennedys.
