Hello ScreenCrave readers! It has been a while since we’ve rounded up the movies that will be released this week, so here you go! This week, the latest version of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, and Gary Oldman will hit theaters. The animation in this movie is incredible, haunting, and a little creepy all at the same time. Unfortunately, the reviews for it have been a little mixed. On another note, The Men Who Stare at Goats is based on the Jon Ronson novel about a top-secret, psychic unit in the U.S. military, and stars George Clooney, Kevin Spacey, and Ewan McGregor. For all you horror movie-lovers out there, the latest film by Milla Jovovich entitled The Fourth Kind, will be released and it’s about alien abductions in Alaska. It isn’t going to be an Oscar-worthy film, but it might still be entertaining.

We just posted our review for The Fourth Kind and it has been decided, this film is genuinely scary. The mixture of archived and fictional footage makes you unable to get away with your usual “this is just a movie” scapegoat and will leave you scared far after you walk out of the theater.
In honor of its release this Friday, Universal has just sent over a new video featurette via FEARnet.com. In it you’ll see paranormal writer/researcher Marie D. Jones discusses encounters of the fourth kind and learn why she says experts believe that these similar experiences can’t just be thought of as coincidence.

In the early seventies a scale of measurement was established for all “alien encounters” – a UFO sighting is an encounter of the first kind, tangible evidence collected is of the second kind, contact with extraterrestrials is of the third kind, and lastly, abduction, is of The Fourth Kind. Based on actual case studies, The Fourth Kind is a thriller that features the mysterious disappearances of a fraction of the Nome, Alaskan population.

The Fourth Kind is an upcoming thriller about alien abduction and the film’s first poster makes that quite clear. Recently we showed you the freaky trailer for the film, which is a chill-fest set in modern-day Nome, Alaska where people “magically” disappear. Thanks to the folks over at Latino Review we got our hands on the first one-sheet for the movie, and like the trailer — it’s freaky.

I don’t know what’s creepier, this trailer, or the number of trailers that have debuted in the past 30 minutes. We just put up the trailers for Bananas!, Gentlemen Broncos and Law Abiding Citizen, and now a trailer for The Fourth Kind, a film that we’ve heard almost nothing about has popped up.
The film was directed and co-written by Olatunde Osunsanmi (WIthIN, Etat) and stars the beautiful Milla Jovovich. Instead of giving anything else away, I’ll let you watch the trailer before first. The less you know, the more fun you’ll have.
