Like most people, we’ve been waiting to hear a legitimate casting announcement regarding Warner Bros’ adaptation of The Flash. One of the biggest names attached to the role was Ryan Reynolds but he has his hands full with too many superheroes at the moment (Deadpool, Green Lantern). According to Moviehole, The Hangover star Bradley Cooper might suit up to take over the part instead.

The folks over at Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are hard at work developing more comic properties for the big screen. Next year The Green Lantern will debut followed by another Batman movie in 2012, and a rebooted Superman film. According to Newsarama, the studio is planning to branch out from their typical DC roster and have completed work on the treatment for the long developing adaptation of The Flash.

Production on Warner Bros’ Green Lantern hasn’t even wrapped but the studio is already preparing for its sequel. According to THR, they’ve hired 3 screenwriters to come up with a treatment for not only Green Lantern 2 but also The Flash! After years of rallying, DC and Warner Bros have heard our cries and are kicking the speedy hero into high gear.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the big screen adaptation of The Flash, the red and gold stepchild of DC Comics. The character has taken a backseat to The Green Lantern, Superman and definitely Batman, but we’re hearing through IESB that there might be some movement on the film. What ever happened to The Flash movie? Before Ryan Reynolds decided to take on every superhero role in sight, he was pegged to star as the speedy DC superhero. Ever since the announcement that he would be playing not one, but two superheroes (from different comic universes) spread, it seems like The Flash has become an after thought.
