Justice League of America DC Comic Films Have More Depth Than Marvel

DC and Marvel Comics have been having their books adapted to film for decades, but recently it seems as if they’ve really hit their stride. Even though Marvel has several formidable and popular properties, DC is currently holding the comic film crown due to the massive success of last year’s The Dark Knight. Ever since DC teamed up with Warner Bros back in 1969, they’ve put out one epic film after another.  According to THR, these next few years will be no different with several hot DC properties set to hit the big screen between 2010 and 2012.

There is no doubt that the Harry Potter franchise has been very successful at the box office. Even when first Harry Potter was debuted in 2001, it was able to pull in more than $300 million. This year, the latest Harry Potter film Half-Blood Prince is expected to do better.

According to Variety, midnight screenings for the Half Blood Prince reached new heights. That’s right, the wizards beat-out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Dark Knight (the previous record holder) for the top grossing midnight screenings of all time – earning $22.2 million.

christopher nolan batman No Nolan for Batman Sequel?

Could director Christopher Nolan be turning his back on the bat? I know that was a corny opening but I had to do it. IGN is reporting that Nolan’s attachment to Warner Bros and a third Batman film isn’t set in stone. They cite a couple of sources that make his future with the rebooted franchise seem uncertain. Being that Batman is my favorite comic book character I had to delve in to this story.

baleandnolan Christian Bale Talks Batman 3, Chris Nolan, and the Oscars

Like most Batman fans I’ve been yearning for more of Gotham’s favorite anti-hero after last summer’s The Dark Knight. Director Christopher Nolan has kept any info regarding the next installment of the comic series away from all eyes and ears. Of course that hasn’t stopped rumors from running wild regarding possible villains and casting for the third film. Batman’s portrayer Christian Bale recently spoke about the next film in the franchise, and whether or not he or Nolan will return for another round.

Therefore, in honor of the film’s release I’ve decided to compile a list of my top 10 comic book adaptations.  Some may be expected, while others may come as a surprise. Either way give me your two cents on who you think should or shouldn’t be included.

heath ledger 01 Who Will Represent Ledger on Oscar Night?

Even before The Dark Knight hit theaters last summer, the Oscar buzz surrounding Heath Ledger’s take on the  maniacal Joker was deafening. Fast forwarding to 2009, Ledger has not only received his Academy Award nomination, but has dominated the Best Supporting Actor category as a whole. The actor has already posthumously won the Golden Globe and SAG award for his performance, and the Oscar is in arm’s reach. Ledger is the favorite to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar at this year’s ceremony, but a big mystery still remains. If  he wins, who will accept the award on his behalf?

lostplanet 2 Lost Planet Adaptation for a Dark Knight Price

I’ve vaguely been paying attention to any news regarding the Lost Planet video game adaptation, for obvious reason’s but today something caught my eye. According to CHUD, during an interview with Capcom’s Corporate Officer Toshihiro Tokumaru, a bomb was dropped regarding what type of movie this is really going to be. The head honcho has big plans for this film, and when you want to make a big movie, you have to spend big money. Guess how much dough this guy is willing to part with for this passion project.

Find out after the jump.
