A new domestic trailer has been released for Disney’s upcoming sequel The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It’s the third installment in the film franchise, which is based on the popular C. S. Lewis. book series. The Dawn Treader is a follow up to 2008′s Prince Caspian, a film that underperformed at the box office and was scorned by many critics. Will the third movie be a charm? Check out the trailer…

In the film, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb are once again pulled into the world of Narnia and this time its through a painting. They go on a mysterious mission with Prince Caspian that takes them to the Lone Islands where they encounter Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk all while aboard the Dawn Treader.

The third installment of the Narnia series is directed by Michael Apted and stars Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter, Gary Sweet, Bruce Spence, Arthur Angel, Shane Rangi and features the amazing voice of Liam Neeson.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is scheduled to hit theaters this holiday season in 3D and 2D on December 10th.

Disney has debuted a full-length international trailer for their upcoming holiday release, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The last trailer was released back in August and it did a great job of reminding us of why so many kids love the film series. Let’s just pretend that Prince Caspian never happened shall we? New Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader Trailer

A new trailer has been discovered online for the upcoming sequel The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The footage appears on the DVD release of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which debuted in stores on Tuesday. If you don’t want to cough up the cash for that film just to see the trailer, you’re in luck. First Posters: Kane and Lynch, Gulliver’s Travels, Narnia The Voyage of The Dawn Treader

This week the Cannes Film Festival is kicking off and the folks over at Empire are on hand taking notes and snapping photos of some awesome new posters that have debuted at the event. The first three we’ve seen are for Gulliver’s Travels, Kane & Lynch, and the third film in the Narnia franchise, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Check them out…

Gulliver’s Travels is the Jack Black action comedy based on the story of the same name and co-stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt. On a side note, this is the film that kept Blunt from taking on the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2 leaving us to suffer with the performance we saw last weekend from Scarlett Johansson. This movie better be good!

The next photo is for the Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx video game adaptation Kane & Lynch. The film is about a schizophrenic killer (James Lynch) who teams up with a mercenary named Adam “Kane” Marcus.

The third and final photo features the crew from the popular Narnia franchise. After the lukewarm reception of Prince Caspian we’re surprised that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader found another studio home after Disney dumped it over its massive budget. It was rescued by 20th Century Fox and is now scheduled for release on December 10th of this year.

Mark Johnson Talks Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The second sequel in the Narnia franchise is currently in production. The film entitled, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will include the return of all your favorite characters including the most recent addition, Prince Caspian. Producer Mark Johnson recently spoke to ComingSoon about his vision for the third film, and the involvement of previous director Andrew Adamson.

It’s no big secret that the last film in the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian didn’t reach the expectations of fans or critics alike. The burn from it’s reception was so bad that Disney actually decided not to produce a third film, leaving the franchise without a studio home. Enter the Walden Media/ 20th Century Fox collaboration, and we’ve got a new movie on our hands.

This time around Michael Apted will be taking over the reigns from previous Narnia writer and director Andrew Adamson. Adamson will serve as a producer on Dawn Treader, so his influence will still be felt somewhat in the film. Johnson stated:

“It’s a whole new franchise, I think it’s really benefiting from it. It’s a slightly different look. This one is different from the others, it’s in that ['Seventh Voyage of Sinbad,' old Harryhausen films] league and they go from island to island having adventures. I’m very excited about it.”

He also added that Adamson gave him some words of advice when it came to recreating the overall vision of the story.

“I had just re-read the book and he said, I don’t want to make a film based on ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,’ I want to make a movie based on my recollection of it. He took a 9-year-old boy’s imagination. He saw things that are not even in the book. Lewis left, sometimes major battles, on a single page, so Adamson just re-imagined it.”

The third Narnia film is currently in shooting and should hit theaters on December 10, 2010. We all know how release dates like to change every now and again, so we’ll see how long this one sticks.

Roy Billing Cast in Narnia: The Dawn Treader

So, the Narnia trilogy is moving full speed ahead. I haven’t heard much about the third film installment of the series, The Dawn Treader and I was getting a bit worried until I came across this piece of casting news over at Moviehole. New Zealand actor Roy Billing has been cast in the upcoming film as Chief Dufflepud. He’s an interesting choice, but I think he has what it takes to pull it off.

Chief Dufflepud is described as – “a gnome-like creature who hops around on one leg.” Those were the words of Billing who recently opened up about his new found role.

The Dufflepuds are a curious group of [one-legged] creatures that Eustace, Lucy and their companions come upon in their adventures. Though not intelligent, they have the power of invisibility.

The actor has been in the business for over 30 years but Narnia will be his first major Hollywood feature. It turns out production started on the film last month in New York. The Dawn Treader is a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Walden Media. They switched it up a little when Disney dumped the series after the mediocre reception of Prince Caspian. Will Narnia ever return to it’s former glory?
