The Terminator franchise has been f*cked six ways to Sunday and yet someone still manages to keep the property alive — in some form. According to a press release sent out by Hannover House they’re not done dragging the franchise through the mud. They’re going to take the character into the realm of animation with a big screen, CGI feature, that will of course be in 3D (sigh).

Apparently, they’re the new owners of one of the most ground breaking sci-fi film series of all time! The rights for the Terminator franchise are still up in the air as several studios and private production companies are trying to snatch up the property. The rights were taken away from previous owners, The Halcyon Group, when they found themselves in massive debt that they couldn’t repay. Now Terminator is on the auction block with Lionsgate showing interest, and Sony not far behind.

Last year the rights for the Terminator movie franchise that launched over 25 years ago went up for sale. The former owners of the property could no longer afford to hold on to it, and after a lot of Hollywood red tape and multiple lawyers, Termiantor hit the chopping block. And according to the Los Angeles Times, Lionsgate currently has the upper hand in the studio bidding war.
