Well I may have been wrong in my box office predictions. Night at the Museum managed to rally $15.3 million at the box office on Friday and Terminator Salvation only pulled in $13.4 million on Thursday.
Who will be the winner? We’ll see on Tuesday!

This weekend Terminator Salvation and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian are going to be battling it out at the box office, but who will bring in the most viewers and which one is actually worth seeing?
Terminator and Night at the Museum, both have their ups and downs. The big difference is that Terminator is a serious, end of the world film and Night at the Museum is about a fun romp through a museum.
So who will dominate the box office this weekend?

McG‘s film, Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington will be released in theaters this Friday, May 22nd. One thing is for sure, McG’s personality is just as big as his films. It’s not everyday that you hear a Director say: “I’ve got no business. I’m base packing a Dura-Flame,”(and yes he is referring to what you think he’s referring too), “I definitely hate myself, I can promise you that,” and “Who calls himself McG?” all in one interview. In fact, McG is possibly the most energetic and yet oddly masochistic Directors I’ve ever spoken to.
9/10 of the times, we show up to interview filmmakers and wait at least an hour for them to arrive. But as I walked over to where I would be doing the interview, there was McG standing in the hallway, 15 minutes early, by himself, waiting eagerly for the press to arrive.
McG is surprisingly self aware of who he is and who the public thinks he is. He’s not out to try and fool you, he’s only out to try to impress you and if very eager to do so. After this interview, I he’s impressed be a bit, but more than that, he’s fascinated me.

Concept art is where it all begins. It’s always cool to see what initial ideas looked like versus what the final product is. Titan Books has released a book called “The Art of Terminator Salvation,” today (April 28th). Titan Books had recently released The Watchmen concept art book, and that one is really insightful. So you can stroll into a book store and get a glimpse of the process of movie making, or order it here.
The images below are some digital concepts of the “Moto-Terminator.” Two of these, use the iconography of the already existing Terminator design. It’s basically a Terminator bot riding a motorcycle, which is terrifying and all, but I think the third concept that features just the bike is the strongest. You don’t want to over do it with the skulls and skeletons. Plus, a smart motorcycle that’s out to kill you of it’s own accord is totally scarier and more interesting.
These pictures are awesome though, and makes me want to see the final product all the more. Check the out below…

With the release date of the highly-anticipated Terminator: Salvation quickly approaching, WB is really gearing up the advertising for the new movie. An “extended look” is set to air on Wednesday night, April 15, during the show Bones. Basically, Warner Brothers bought a lot of advertising slots and will show one long trailer. That’s actually kind of great. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited about this movie.
The rating of Terminator: Salvation has been a little bit of an issue between the director, McG, and Warner Brothers; McG wanted the movie to have an R rating, and WB wanted to have a PG-13 rating. Obviously, a lower rating means the teenagers can watch the movie with ease. No sneaking in for the under 17 crowd! Apparently, McG fought a good fight, but the MPAA has officially come to the decision that the movie will have a PG-13 rating. WB studios 1, McG 0.

Check out some of the amazing new, Terminator Salvation concept art by ILM artist Christian Alzmann and visual effects art director Warren Fu recently posted on /Film. Although we’ve already seen a lot of these shots in recent trailers, it’s still pretty cool to see some of the drawings that made it all happen. The images show give us a further peek into the upcoming film, with artwork of a destroyed San Francisco landscape, two shots of the aerial unit called “Transporter,” the super-jumbo sized robot you’ve seen in trailers called The Harvester, a scale comparison the size of the robot’s arm in comparison to the size of a human, and above you can see a human (who I think will be Sam Worthington) interacting with some sophisticated SkyNet system.

Rottentomatoes.com recently had a chance to sit down with McG and talk about his upcoming film Terminator: Salvation, due out in theaters May 21st. From what he has just said, this will definitely be a film for boys. There will be lots of pain, long-one shot actions scenes, and of course, lots of things blowing up.

Let me preface this story by saying I am in no way trying to viciously attack Watchmen. I’m just informing you of the information that I’ve learned. With that being said, according to IESB Warner Brothers is beginning to rethink the importance of the MPAA ratings for their tent pole films. After the underwhelming box office performance of this month’s Watchmen, the studio is looking to cut down on big budget R rated material. This would effect several 2009 releases that are still awaiting their ratings approval including this summer’s Terminator Salvation.
