‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ New Character Posters Bring The Bland

Not to have its thunder stolen by The Avengers’ runaway box office, Prometheus’ mysterious buzz, The Amazing Spider-Man’s inevitable Fourth of July weekend dominion, or The Dark Knight Rises’ guaranteed success (or crappy posters), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has dropped a series of bland character posters on the world today. Featuring a trio of the blank stares we’ve all come to know and moderately tolerate, the posters are below.

Hey, we’ll give them this—at least they’re better than the “Let’s write the words ‘Twilight’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’ over a smudge and then release it” thinking that went into the original teaser poster for the upcoming film, right?

Pay close attention and you’ll note that—gasp!—Kristen Stewart’s eyes are red, which means she totes a vampire now, you guyz. Totes! OMG, it’s juuuuuuust like the books. Which, in keeping with the last book, this film will revolve around some kind of vampire army and then a 20 year old muscle-bound werewolf falls in love with a newborn vampire baby and then Stewart will look at things blankly with her mouth slightly agape and set the feminist movement back about 50 years. Something like that.

Stewart costarts with Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in Twilight: Seriously—How Many More Punctuation Marks Can We Awkwardly Wedge Into This Title?, which is set for a November 16, 2012 release.

Latest ‘Twilight’ Stills Reveal ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2′ Spoilers

Well, spoilers in the sense that what seemed readily apparent at the end of the first half of Twilight‘s Breaking Dawn is confirmed. Kristen Stewart‘s Bella is a vampire now. We had hope that writer/director Bill Condon would elevate the material a little, but at this point the movies are what they are. So check out the latest stills…

Are you ready? Cause they’re really exciting.

Boom:

Hey look, it’s that Taylor Lautner kid giving his “Blue Steel!” Wow, do you think he’s going to turn into a werewolf or something shortly after this, or is he just posing for his yearbook? That’s a look that says “maybe he’s really angry, or maybe he just wants a sandwich.” We’d bet Lautner made this face for hours after someone read him the reviews of Abduction.

But wait, there’s a little more:

Look at the happy couple. Question to the Twilight fans, we’ve seen the first film, but haven’t read the books, do they get to have sex again? Does it come up? We hope so, because the violent sex between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was easily the most entertaining part of the last movie. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits theaters November 16, and we can’t wait.

‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part II’ Is Going Back For Reshoots

Reshoots are usually buzzed about because it’s often a sign that a film isn’t working, but director Bill Condon has gone out of his way to assure Twilight fans that the recently announced reshoots for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II are just par for the course. He also hints that the film is about to unleash its full trailer shortly. Check out his statement below…

Condon suggests that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be involved with the reshoots, but makes no mention of Taylor Lautner, which also suggests this is just a touch up or two. As the two-parter was shot as one long movie, this really shouldn’t be a surprise. Here’s Condon’s note, from Facebook:

Hello Twihards!

Greetings from Los Angeles, where we’re hard at work on BREAKING DAWN, PART TWO. It’s truly crazy to think that it’s been a year since we wrapped production in Vancouver, since for those of us in the editing room the work has never stopped.

A film is a lot like a puzzle, with each piece – each shot, no matter how brief – needing to fit exactly with the ones around it. Our Part Two puzzle is finally coming into full view, and in a few weeks we’ll be heading back north to pick up some additional shots – the last tiny missing pieces. We’re not shooting any new scenes or dialogue, just some technical work with some of our cast and stunt actors.

I am really looking forward to being back on set with some of the friends I’ve made on my Twilight journey, like the great Guillermo Navarro, our cinematographer, and his crew. And yes, Rob and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time…

I’m excited to report that before too long we’ll have another trailer for you to decode. And wait until you see the first posters — they’re unlike any “Twilight” images you’ve seen before. And then November 16th will be upon us and the final film will be yours!

Reshoots are often seen as a bad thing, but that’s usually because they’re done after a test screening shows the movie’s problems. It’s possible this is more than what he says, but it seems unlikely.

In the annals of reshoots, sometimes the new scenes work, and sometimes they’re just used as scotch tape to cut sections of a film that were scrapped. Woody Allen notoriously reshot one of his films (September) in its entirety, while recently we’ve heard word on both John Carter and Men in Black III doing extensive reshoots. But you know what also went back to get more footage? The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It seems that bad buzz iss saved for films that are already troubled. The film is due out November 16.

Taylor Lautner Joins ‘Grown Ups 2,’ Will Officially Make It The Worst Film Ever

Now that we know that Adam Sandler is giving one of his most reviled films—Grown Ups—the sequel treatment with the cleverly titled Grown Ups 2, the big question on the tip of everyone’s tongues is one and the same. No, no “how can the world be so cruel and unfair as to unleash this horror upon us?” Rather, it is “which Twilight star known for wooden and stilted acting could be added to the hilarity and hijinks of Grown Ups 2?” And your answer, America, is Taylor Lautner.

That’s right, the Mini-Me version of circa-All The Right Moves Tom Cruise will be joining returning cast members Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek. So, just in case you were thinking that life or modern cinema couldn’t get any worse once Grown Ups 2 was announced, well, it kind of just got worse.

Lautner’s role is being described as “a fun turn which will have the young actor going toe-to-toe with Sandler in some fashion.” Or, as I call the role, “something I have to write about because Easter week is always a slow news week so now I have to fashion some kind of news item about a handsome non-actor scoring a role in the sequel to one of the more reviled comedic films of the past 10 years.”

Teaser For The Trailer For Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2

Oh man. It’s almost here. The end of Twilight as we know it. Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be released November 16, but until that time, fans will have wait patiently with small glimpses of footage, and haters will be stuck counting the days until it’s all finally over. To tide one of those parties over there’s now a teaser for the trailer that will be attached to The Hunger Games. Check it out…

As with all teaser for teasers, there’s very little here, expect glimpses at your leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. But this is obviously from the new film as we see that Stewart’s Bella can move at vampire speeds. Other than that… well it is a teaser for a teaser.

Calling this the end may be a bit of an exaggeration, but many involved seem happy to walk away from the madness. Stewart is moving on in interesting directions (between On the Road and Snow White and the Hunstman), Pattinson is in the next David Cronenberg movie, and Taylor Lautner might actually get another project off the ground at some point. That’s possible. Sure. Even if a majority of the main cast is moving onwards and upwards, piles and piles and cash have been known to sway even the most stout of objections. From Marlon Brando to Sean Connery, actors tend to have a figure that they can’t refuse.

And then there’s talks of more movies. Perhaps the Cullen family can be brought in as well. We’ve yet to see what happens when this cast isn’t working, and a new Twilight film might be just the break they need from signing booths in three years time.

Lionsgate Wants more Twilight

In an interview with the LA Times, Jon Feltheimer – the CEO of Lionsgate – talked about his plans for the Twilight franchise now that his company owns the rights. Those plans seem to be to milk it for every cent that it’s worth through spin-offs. Whether that’s on television, or additional sequels, it’s hard to say as Feltheimer basically says he knows that a blockbuster series isn’t finished until audiences are sick of them.

Much of the future of this will rest on Stephenie Meyer, and what she’s going to write or be involved with. Surely if the check is there, she will gladly let other people play in her universe. Perhaps they will go on a spin-off route and follow some of the minor characters. Both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart seem to relieved to be done with the franchise, but many of the supporting players would love to have a steady gig – though someone like Jackson Rathbone can already make a living through Twilight convention appearances and signings.

Having watched Abduction over the weekend, it seems the only way Taylor Lautner will keep working is through the Twilight franchise. Perhaps he and his werewolf friends could have a side adventure. If more of his other projects don’t pan out, he seems the most likely to return, and the easiest to spin off.

Interview: Taylor Lautner on Imprinting in Twilight

For Taylor Lautner, the biggest challenge of Breaking Dawn Part 1 wasn’t being on the losing end of a love triangle between himself, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), but figuring out how to play imprinted. In the latest and penultimate Twilight film, the werewolf love bond is enacted, and between Jacob (Lautner) and an interesting partner. Check out his thoughts on that and his non-denial about working with Gus Van Sant in out interview…

Lautner has a sense of humor about his role as he joked about being shirtless often for his part (I guess it goes with being a werewolf), and acknowledged the fun and difficulty of doing so in less than friendly climates. He also didn’t want to talk about crazy fans, as he likes to call them “passionate” and talked up how some people want their body signed to have his signature turned into a tattoo (something Peter Facinelli also mentioned, and he wanted no part in it).

When a project involving Gus Van Sant came up, Lautner gave it a very classic “I can’t say anything” denial:

He is a very, very talented director who I’ve always looked up to and I’ve always wanted to work with. It’s very premature, so I really don’t have much so say now other than the fact that I really, really respect and would love the opportunity to work with him.

When pressed about the subject matter he added “there is a project like that floating around somewhere on this planet.” I guess that’s how you handle it when there’s no names on the dotted lines.

He also talks about the fame and wanting to keep your face out there, but finding it difficult to let go of the role, and his friends that he’s made through the shooting of the series. This was a common thread in the interviews, as everyone emphasized their sadness on the thing being over.

He also spoke to the challenges of playing a CGI werewolf and working with a new director on the series, and how protective he is of the character he made famous. Working with Bill Condon (the fourth director in the series) sounded very pleasant and Condon was open to the casts ideas if they felt their characters weren’t behaving as they had been established.

And though the cast have another year to wait until everything is said and done – and who knows if there might be some reshoots – the tone of the event was that everyone knew the big party was over.

The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn Part 1 opens November 18, and should quickly become one of the most successful film of all time.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1: Review

Though The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 doesn’t feature the wrap up of the series, it does get to something the series has been building to since day one: Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) finally putting their desires to bed. And for the couple it is literally a bed-breaking event, one that leads to pregnancy. As a film Breaking Dawn Part 1 classes up the joint by adding Oscar winning writer-director Bill Condon to the mix, but for those hoping for something that might rise above the material, they’re going to be sorely disappointed. For the fans, it’s likely everything they want.

The Plot:

It’s time. Bella (Stewart) and “Team” Edward Cullen (Pattinson) are tying the knot so she can finally become a part of the Cullen family. “Team” Jacob (Lautner) wants no part of it, but decides to make a late appearance anyway. His clan is still upset with the Cullens, but currently they have a fragile peace. Edward and Bella go on an exotic honeymoon, and finally couple in an event that leaves her bruised and the bed broken. But as she feels weird, it becomes apparent that Bella is now pregnant with a vampire baby.

Full Disclosure:

I have only seen the first two films and haven’t read the books.

The Good:

Slightly Better: The jokes are funnier, the acting’s a little less stiff, and they managed to have the shortest running time of series. It has the more polished tone of the later films, but with the fun (and some of the camp) of the first film. The wedding sequence has some great little zings and jags – with Anna Kendrick having a number of funny moments.
They Go There: I have heard about imprinting and the more daffy elements of the narrative beforehand, and they’re in there, and it’s just as strange and messed up as I was led to believe. I wish it was R-rated (few films this obsessed with blood and sex are not), but that was never going to happen. Still, it’s weird.

The Bad:

Telenovela: At this point in the narrative, there’s not a lot of drama, and the drama in the film probably means more to the faithful. I guess there’s another war brewing between vampires factions and werewolves, but it’s a minor section of the film. Instead, a good chunk of the film is dedicated to a wedding and a honeymoon. There’s nothing going on under the surface of these things, and when Edward confesses that he once killed people Bella says it’s no big deal and then it never comes up again. And then Bella gets pregnant, and it’s all about waiting for her to give birth (abortion is mentioned, quickly dismissed). Much like the other broken-up book of the last couple (Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows), it feels more like a collection of scenes than a film. And so you wait for Bella to come to term so something happens, because every time Jacob and his crew get antsy it gets resolved quickly.
If You Don’t Know Me By Now: Where a number of franchises make it easy to drop in on later chapters with relative ease (There are Aliens in outer space, Harry Potter’s in school), but with Twlight at this point the mythology is established and the audience is there. Nothing about Breaking Dawn is going to matter much to those who aren’t in for the ride. It’s just for the fans, and only for them.
Not for You: And to that point, this doesn’t really function as a film. The performers are never bad per se (even Taylor Lautner – once the hot property – who has probably 86′d his chances of too much work outside Twilight after Abduction), but there are no arcs. The same could be said for the film. Not even the pregnancy is used as a device. This is a filmed book. And what appears to be not a very good one, that covers half of a narrative, which would be about one and a half of a three act structure. When the film hits its conclusion, it doesn’t feel like a cliffhanger, as all tension is resolved from the incident itself.

Overall:

I guess this is functionally better than the previous films in terms of having scale and better quality of most everything, but this is a movie for people who already care. As an outsider it was dull, but relatively painless, sometimes insane and occasionally interesting, but only to a point.

Rating: 4.5/10

Emma Stone isn’t done filming The Gangster Squad, but already she’s signed on to star in another project, this time, a comedy. Twilight star Taylor Lautner has also signed on to a surprising project with the two-time Oscar nominated director Gus Van Sant. We’ve also got the first trailer for the the 80s TV remake, 21 Jump Street.

Human Zoo: Quentin Tarantino is showing his support for Rie Rasmussen’s Human Zoo by playing it at his theater, the New Beverly Cinema. Starting November 11, Human Zoo – about a girl who is tormented by memories of the Kosovo conflict – will show at the Beverly until November 17. The film made its debut at the Berlin Film Festival, and is Rasmussen’s directorial debut.
Like Crazy: Starting today, the cast of Like Crazy will make appearances at difference theaters across Los Angeles to talk about their indie drama film. Check below for individual times and locations: Felicity Jones will be at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks tonight at 8:10; Anton Yelchin will be at the Landmark West LA tomorrow night at 7:45 PM; Director Drake Doremus will make two appearances, one at the Arclight in Pasadena tomorrow night at 8:15 PM, and another at the Landmark West LA on Sunday afternoon at 5:30 PM.
21 Jump Street Trailer: The first 21 Jump Street trailer has hit the web, red band and all. Based on the late 80s TV show, starring Johnny Depp, this remake focuses on two undercover cops played by Channing Tatum and a slim looking Jonah Hill. From the trailer, this movie feels like a combination of Superbad and Pineapple Express. It’s got potential, this film. See it below:

BAFTA Guru Gives Advice: BAFTA Guru is a new site dedicated to offering entertainment industry advice through the form of interviews, lectures, master classes and debates. The site will look at some of the best minds in the business in order to help out 18-30 year-olds seeking advice. Come Sunday, there will be a live stream on the site with BAFTA’s David Lean. Taylor Lautner Wants to be an Indie Star: Lautner is looking to be something more than a franchise megastar. What’s his move? Well, the Twilight star just signed to produce and star in Gus Van Sant’s next small-budget film. There’s no details on what the film will be about, but we can say that this is a bold move by Lautner. Producing and starring? Good luck to him!
Emma Stone: The always awesome Emma Stone has a new project to brag about. The busy actress is continuing her comedy streak with He’s Fuckin’ Perfect, a comedy about a pessimistic woman who uses her social media kn0whow to research her friends’ dates and help them get rid of the losers. Eventually, she stumbles upon the man the man of her dreams, and chaos ensues. Comedy or tragedy, Stone’s got this in the bag.

Two New Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 TV spots

Kristen Stewart‘s Bella and Robert Pattinson‘s Team Edward are getting married! That much is certain, and it seems they enjoy a night of conjugal pleasures which have unexpected consequences that upset Taylor Lautner‘s Team Jacob. How much and when the divide of Bill Condon‘s Twilight: Breaking Dawn happens is not spelled out, but it looks like in this one we’re definitely getting to see the couple consummate their love. Part 1 opens November 18, and there’s two new TV spots. Check them out….

The first spot is called “Event”:

They’ve been building on the same images, many of which seem rather suggestive. I mean Pattinson is destroying that headboard, and though perhaps girls of a certain age have no concept of what he’s doing, that looks like some pretty intense sexxing.It must be, it gets Bella pregnant, stat.

The fourth book was the least appreciated by fans, but I think at this point (much like with the books) the Twi-Hards are in for the ride. Ironically with the placement of Bill Condon at the helm of the picture, the worst reviewed book will likely have the best reviewed movies. Regardless, the rabid fanbase is going to eat this up.

New Photos and Synopsis for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

With the release date of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 closing in on us, Summit Entertainment has sent over nine images and a new synopsis. Like seen in the photo aboce, the first part of this conclusion will take us through the romantic marriage of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart). Academy Award winning screenwriter Bill Condon directed both part 1 and 2 of Breaking Dawn; the latter is schedule to conclude on November 16, 2012.

Those of us who are fanatics of the books and film franchise will know exactly what to expect in the first-half of Breaking Dawn, story-wise. As for us, we suspect, Part 1 is going to cover Edward and Bella’s blissful marriage as they go on their honeymoon and get news that there’s a baby on the way. Here’s the new Official synopsis for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1:

The highly anticipated fourth installment of The Twilight Saga, directed by Academy Award® winner Bill Condon, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 reveals the mysteries of this romantic epic that has entranced millions.

In March, some Breaking Dawn set photos were leaked, and people got a sneak of Edward and Bella’s sex scene, as well as one honeymoon scene photo. Summit took immediate action by requesting the photos to be removed, and launched an investigation to find out who the culprit was.

Now, three months before the release of Breaking Dawn Part 1, Summit has decided to share their official set photos. Below you can see photos of Bella and Edward enjoying their married life, Bella finding out she’s pregnant and the two on a speed boat, possibly during their honeymoon (or maybe they are being chased by evil vampires)? Regardless, the photos make the film look mellow. Mostly we see Bella and Edward smiling, without a hint of worry in their eyes. It seems like all the action is being saved for Breaking Dawn Part 2. Check them out!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 will hit theaters later this year on November 18th.

Breaking Dawn Trailer Delivers Wedding Invitation

So it’s down to this. At the MTV movie awards (or as it’s become… the Twilight movie awards) the new trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 1 premiered. Reactions around the web are going to be intensely partisan (witness the hysterics!), but – as it is no secret to those who’ve read the book - the fourth entry in the franchise has Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) getting married (which doesn’t make Taylor Lautner‘s Jacob all too happy). Now there’s a trailer. It features bed-breaking-sex. No, really…

It’s easy to kick the wheels on this franchise, but it’s worth noting that Oscar winner Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, Gods and Monsters) is the director and as an award winning screenwriter, he likely had a lot of input on this film. Not to knock on any of the previous directors, but Condon’s the most accomplished and respected.

At the same time, the trailer features a shot of the martial bed being broke. This sort of heightened passion is a bit much for the PG-13 franchise, but that’s exciting. For those who’ve read the books or the summaries, the original story goes in some… interesting directions, regarding sex acts and pregnancies, and C-sections, and imprinting. As a film fan, I would love Condon to take this to some sort of Douglas Sirk level of intensity, real melodrama, which seems one of the core appeals of the material.The first opens in November, 2011, the second half comes in the fall of 2012.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?
