Since its release in 1991, Beauty and the Beast has been one of the crown jewels of Disney animation. It signaled the great 90′s renaissance of the studio, leading to Aladdin and The Lion King. Now it’s hitting theaters in a 3-D edition. And here’s what you need to know.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Boys don’t like your name because it’s too girly so can we just call the film Tangled and instead of making your hair long make it REALLY long and give it a life of its own? Yeap, you get where I’m going. The film does have it moments though and quite possibly one of the most beautiful scenes ever shot. Find out what worked and what didn’t it my full review below…

Earlier this week we learned that Disney Animation plans on throwing in the towel when it comes to their fairy tale movies. With the release of Tangled, they’re closing a chapter on the genre and choosing to concentrate on broader characters and stories. This is a sad, sad day for a lot of us considering how fairy tales and princess movies are what we grew up on. Take a look and reminisce because you won’t see films like these again for a very long time…

According to the Los Angles Times, the studio has had enough with the “princess movie” genre and are moving on to bigger and better things. After the first trailer was released way back in June, Disney has finally released a second, more detailed and twisted trailer for their latest upcoming animation Tangled. The film centers on the cursed Rapunzel voiced by Mandy Moore and her now creepy and surprisingly strong golden hair (which seems to resemble Doc Ock’s arms in Spider-Man 2 after he goes crazy), after she’s been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned.
Though she’s a damsel in distress, she’s by no means feeble or dim-witted — no that job is given to the male “hero”. When bandit named Flynn Ryder who’s voiced by “Chuck’s” Zachary Levi comes to rescue her, she’s not won over and commences the torturing before the escaping.
