Because if a story features a vampire, werewolf, or some other classic/ gothic monster these days, it’s gonna get green-lit, the graphic novel I, Frankenstein is being set for production and release from Lakeshore Entertainment. Stuart Beattie (who wrote and directed last year’s Australian hit, Tomorrow, When the War Began, and also wrote such fare as GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Punisher: War Zone, and 30 Days of Night), has signed on to write and direct.

This weekend, crowd’s will have the option to “Go Joe,” with the live action adaptation of the popular Hasbro toy line, G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra. Recently, I was lucky enough to interview the film’s screenwriter Stuart Beattie. He opened up about this feature as well as several high profile projects he has on the horizon, which include Halo, Tarzan, Tomorrow, When the War Began, and Spy Hunter just to name a few.

I’m kind of surprised at the reviews that have been released for this Friday’s G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. I haven’t been particularly excited to see the film, as many other people I know. Yet, something must be in the water, because a lot of the reviews I’ve read have been surprisingly……good! I’m not saying the movie is Citizen Kane, but it hasn’t rated as low as anticipated.

Whenever it comes to Halo news I feel like I’m in an rocky relationship. One minute things are a go, the next they’re not. At this year’s Comic-Con, Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp filled us in on their involvement with the live action adaptation of Halo. According to Jackson it wasn’t a pleasant experience for him, Blomkamp, or Microsoft. So, who’s next to tackle this epic story? G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra screenwriter Stuart Beattie has a script ready to go, and believes that this film not only has to, but needs to be made.

Were you a fan of last year’s sweeping epic Australia? OK, not many of you were, but that’s not stopping the film’s co-writer from stepping it up a notch. According to THR, Stuart Beattie will make his directorial debut with an adaptation of the Australian young adult novel entitled Tomorrow, When the War Began. The book is the first of seven installments of a popular series that ran from 1994-1999. They were written by famed author John Marsden and are typically referred to as “The Tomorrow Series”
