Star Trek Reviews, Interviews & More
Here's something that ought to keep the Star Trek high going. Paramount Pictures has released the first official image from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, which reveals the name of Benedict Cumberbatch's villainous character.
Paramount is continuing the trend of releasing a trailer for the trailer by dropping the first teaser for J.J. Abrams' highly-anticipated movie Star Trek Into Darkness. The clip, which runs a little over a minute, features tons of stunned faces, screams and explosions. Take a look.
The big release this week is The Dark Knight Rises, but there’s something for everyone this week, from hidden gems, to stone cold masterpieces. Animated films, great directors delivering minor classics, to indie films no one cared about, and ones that could be Oscar spoilers. Like we said, it’s a good week for DVD and Blu-ray.
You’ve got to hand it to the Star Trek Into Darkness marketing department—the more we learn about the upcoming second film in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, somehow the less we know and more confused we become. Today is no different—we now have the official plot synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness from Paramount Pictures. And with that plot synopsis...
Yesterday, we reported that Star Trek Into Darkness, one the most mysterious and anticipated films of 2013 (and most unfortunately-titled) is finally getting a public preview in the form of a nine-minute IMAX presentation on December 14th that will feature the film’s opening sequence. The preview will be attached to IMAX prints of The Hobbit, just as The Dark Knight...
Taking a cue from The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, the unfortunately titled Star Trek Into Darkness will be getting an IMAX preview of its first nine minutes six months before its official premiere on May 17, 2013. That’s right—one of the most secretive and mysterious films of 2013 will be getting a nearly 10-minute IMAX preview, in just one month...
UPDATE: According to Cinema Blend, this has been "a well-executed hoax." No trailer for us anytime soon, unfortunately, so it's bad to the waiting and ceaseless speculation about whether or not Khan is pictured above.
Because Paramount is dead set on driving Star Trek fans completely insane (remember when J.J. Abrams released a 3-frame...
For months now, we’ve agonized over the ludicrously titled Star Trek reboot sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness—will Khan be in it? Will Captain Kirk be as much of an overacted cartoon character as he was in the first film? Will there be another villain motivated by another ridiculous reason for revenge coupled with massive plot holes? None of that is for certain. ...
For several months now, we’ve been referring to the untitled Star Trek reboot sequel as Star Trek 2, as not official title for the film has existed. That changed, though, with the 46th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise this weekend, in which the new official title was announced. And guess what? It’s horrible.
The excitement is already building for Star Trek 2, despite the fact it might not be boldly making its way back into cinemas for the best part of another year; now Zachary Quinto been bragging that the filmmaking team is “bigging it up” in a recent interview. His comments come on the heels of star Chris Pine, who was also recently bragging about how the film is bigger and better...
Curious about the new Star Trek sequel? We know we are. And lucky us, Chris Pine has recently been raving to TotalFilm about the new movie, and apparently it won’t be adhering to the usual sequel pitch of, quote, "like the original, but darker…" When the magazine suggested that it might be a bit on the darker side, Pine was quick to dismiss it: "We're not making...
Sci-fi experts Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are well-established in their chosen genre, but now it seems they are venturing into the unknown realm of fantasy; both are attached to produce Dragonology, a film based on the series of books, beginning with 2003’s Dugald Steer's Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons.
Sigh, where to begin? First, the villain for the upcoming Star Trek 2 was original series super villain Khan. Then, crewmembers quashed the Khan rumor, saying he’s not in the film at all. And then, the villain was leaked to be Khan once again. Then, Karl Urban, who plays Dr. McCoy in both Star Trek and Star Trek...
Ok, Star Trek 2, this “who is the film’s villain?” thing is getting old. First it was it Khan, then it wasn’t Khan, then it was Khan again. Sure, we could wait until 2013 to find out, like mature human beings, but that simply isn’t what the internet was made for. Which is why a recent interview with Star Trek 2’s Karl Urban (he plays Dr. McCoy) is raising...
The popularity of our nation's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, seems to be at an all-time high. Just within the last year and a half we have had movies such as Robert Redford's The Conspirator, the low-budget Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, and last week's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. If that isn't enough,...
One of the more fervent movie geek debates throughout 2012 has been this—will Chris Pine be screaming “KHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAANNNN!!!!!” in Star Trek 2, the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek reboot? At one point, it was all but confirmed that Khan would be the villain, and then Simon Pegg later denied it. Then, director J.J. Abrams dropped a preview of the...
IMAX is the way of the future for blockbuster movies. There's no way that The Avengers could have made $200 Million in its opening weekend without it (or 3D). As such, today both Star Trek 2 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire announced new IMAX developments.
It’s been a bustling month in the world Star Trek sequel news—from Khan being all but officially confirmed as the Star Trek 2 villain, to costar Simon Pegg stating Khan wasn’t in the picture, to a blink or you’ll miss it preview of the Klingons in the upcoming film. Now, even more details have emerged, with co-writer Damon Lindelof and star Chris Pine taking turns...
Well, sort of. At Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, there was a small skit about the preponderance of archery in the film’s of 2012. In it, we saw a brief talking head segment from J.J. Abrams, and in the background, well, let’s just say there was a distinctively lumpy-headed person from Star Trek 2 in the background.
One of the more hotly debated elements concerning the upcoming sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot was who, exactly, was the villain? After Eric Bana's not so memorable turn as a pointy-eared tattoo enthusiast hellbent on traveling through time to destroy the home planet of a guy who just couldn’t save Bana’s civilization in time (so, what, revenge for someone’s...
