Sony is pulling out all the stops when it comes to their rebooted version of the Spider-Man franchise. Over at Deadline Hollywood, they’ve confirmed via a statement from the studio that the new film will follow in the footsteps of every other movie these days, it will be in 3D.

In the midst of the all the script problems, sequel rumors, director swaps, and uncertainty of the Spider-Man franchise, it was briefly rumored that Wes Anderson may take over the franchise. I don’t think anyone really bought the rumor, but someone online (bless um) decided to take the gobbledygook and run with it and give us a brief glimpse of what Spider-Man would look like if Anderson directed it.
Whether you’re a fan of Anderson’s or not, it’s quite obvious that he’s not the man for the job, unless they were looking to take it in a completely new, indie direction. Something tells me that Sony is far more interested in the green side of Spider-Man than the emo-hip side. But that doesn’t mean we can’t ponder what would have happened if they did!

Logan Lerman will take on an epic role in this month’s upcoming release, Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and he already has his eyes on another iconic character. According to an interview the actor gave Access Hollywood, he’s one of the candidates up for the role of Peter Parker in the rebooted Spider-Man series.

Yesterday we got word that Marc Webb would be taking over the new Spider-Man franchise that Sony plans on rebooting for 2012, and now more details have emerged on the direction the story will take. When news first broke that the studio was going out with the old and in with the new, they stated that the new film would have a darker tone and center on a high school version of Peter Parker. According to THR, they’ll be taking a cue from the more recent Spider-Man comics as opposed to the 1960’s version.

How the hell did we go from Marc Webb being a candidate to direct the Spider-Man reboot, to him having a three picture deal?! Talk about going from one extreme to the next, but that’s what the folks over at Vulture are claiming as the latest Spidey development. According to them, they’ve been exclusively informed that Sony will soon announce Webb’s placement as the director of the new Spider-Man franchise.
