The trailer for Martin Scorsese‘s new thriller (they’re calling it a drama), Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio alongside Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Emily Mortimer, Max von Sydow, Jackie Earle Haley, and Patricia Clarkson has just been released and it’s quite surprising. I don’t want to take anything away from you seeing it for the first time, so I’ll just leave it at that and talk about it more after the jump.

Well, Cannes Film Festival is about to begin, but before it does, studios are trying to entice audiences, filmmakers, and distributors, to see their films with the cunning use of posters! Alex Billington from FirstShowing took a little walk down the Croisette, the famous street in which everything will soon take place, in order to check out some of the artwork being displayed. It seems like everyone, big and small is looking to get some attention from Cannes.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have a thing for one another. This is their fourth film together, and this time Michelle Williams and Mark Ruffalo will be joining the duo for a new type of Scorsese film. As you can tell from the shot below, this is a much more warmly lit set set then what we’re used to from the Director.
Mark Ruffalo, who plays a US marshal said, “This could be one of [Scorsese's] great films. He gets to do everything he loves about film: noir, dream sequences, suspense, tough urban stuff. It’s absolute madness, twist upon twist.”
Sounds interesting. There’s got to be some blood hidden somewhere though.

It looks like Christopher Nolan isn’t wasting any time with casting his new film with a whole new star.
Leonardo DiCaprio is in final negotiations to star in Nolan’s science-fiction film Inception, his own personal project which he wrote with his brother and is soon to direct. The script has been kept under lock and key, all we know do far is that it is a “contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.”
Which basically tells us nothing. All we know if that the project is set to shoot this year and is slated to be released in summer 2010, with Nolan and Emma Thomas producing.
