It seems that networks have been getting a little wiggy lately, in that they’ve been threatening to axe their flagship shows—just yesterday, we reported that Fox might cancel The Simpsons over contractual disputes, and now Showtime might have to bring its wildly successful serial killer drama, Dexter, to a close over… you guessed it, contractual disputes.
Showtime’s hit drug dramedy “Weeds” returned Monday night for its seventh season. Mary Louise Parker reprised her role as suburban soccer mom turned pot dealer turned convict, Nancy Botwin. As “Weeds” ventures into another season, there’s a lot to be expected. Some contracts run out this year, including “Weeds’” creator Jenji Kohan, so listen up because this might just be the last “Weeds’” premiere.
Kristen Bell is heading back to television. No, she’s not reprising her role as Veronica Mars on The CW (they don’t deserve her!), she’s heading to cable for a new dark comedy called “House of Lies.” According to the Showtime network, Bell has signed on to co-star alongside Don Cheadle in the new half an hour series, which was created, executive produced and written by Matthew Carnahan (“Dirt”) from the hit tell-all book “House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time” by Martin Kihn.

Another season of the Showtime hit “Dexter” has come to an end. Michael C.
