After the second film – which star Shia LaBeouf and director Michael Bay have publicly apologized for -there was hope that Transformers: Dark of the Moon would settle Michael Bay down, and give him a better story to tell. Working with 3-D, his hyper-editing style wouldn’t work in the format, and there would be no “afterthought” Imax scenes. There would also be no writer’s strike, so the script could be written in a more timely and coherent fashion. And though Michael Bay does action on a scale that is unmatached in the industry, it’s pretty much the same movie, except this time on Ritalin. Find out more below…

For the July 1 release of Transformers: Dark (Side) of the Moon, it’s been interesting to see the returning cast and crew go on an apology tour. Star Shia LaBeouf has said he knows the film sucked, and Michael Bay has made similar comments. Which is funny in that the second film made over $400 Million domestic, and does have a number of apologists. But for the third film – which stars LaBeouf along side Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, and Megan Fox replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley – they’ve said they’re going back to basics. With at least one franchise under his belt (Transformers) that shows no signs of stopping, Shia LaBeouf is doing what all smart actors do: collecting interesting projects. His most recent addition is Joe Hill’s best selling novel Horns, according to Variety. The premise that a year after his girlfriend was slaughtered he wakes up to find that he has both horns and superpowers. And screenplay is being worked on by Keith Bunin, who’s one of the writers on “In Treatment.”

Almost every actor between the ages of 20 and 36 was mentioned as a possible candidate, and just when we thought no one else could be added, enter Shia LaBeouf. According to THR, the young actor’s involvement is a done deal and he’s been confirmed to star in the passion project and he’s not the only one joining the cast. Money Never Sleeps takes place during the 2008 recession and follows a new and younger group of Wall Street traders. The film doesn’t try to copy the original as much as you might think. Yes, there’s the mentoring of an up and comer by a devious veteran but it also tackles the politics and corruption present in the new millennium. Money Never Sleeps opens a whole new bag of worms.

This time Gekko isn’t the top dog, but an ex-con using his slimy ways to once again influence those around him. Shia Labeouf has one film coming out this year, the sequel to the 1987 classic Wall Street. He’s only 24 years old and he’s managed to star in several franchise films, most notably Transformers. According to THR, for the second year in a row Labeouf has topped the Forbes list of actors who deliver the most “bang for their buck.”
