Sharlto Copley, the man who came out of no where and showed us all that action films could have quality acting from names that we had never heard of before in a little movie called District 9 is (not surprisingly) now being snatched up by Hollywood. Not only will we be seeing him as part of The A-Team this summer, but according to HeatVision, he’s also the number one pick for a new upcoming sci-fi film.
A new theatrical trailer has been released for this summer’s big screen adaptation of The A-Team. The film is based on the cult TV show of the same name and features a cast led by veteran actor, Liam Neeson. The more we see from the film the more I’m convince that it will be awesome, campy fun. Lately, we’ve been posting various set photos from the big screen adaptation of The A-Team. The film is directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus, Sharlto Copley as Murdoch, and Jessica Biel as Amy Allen. A few weeks ago, several websites posted a photo of the van from the upcoming Joe Carnahan production of The A-Team. It looks like The A-Team‘s cast is finally taking shape. Last week we reported that District 9 star Sharlto Copley was rumored to play the role of “Howling Mad” Murdock in the film, and according to THR it’s true. But he’s not the only one joining the team (no pun intended), actress Jessica Biel has been cast as the female lead in the Joe Carnahan adaptation of the popular television series.
After the commercial and critical success of Neil Blomkamp‘s District 9, it’s no surprise that actor Sharlto Copley has been thrust into the spotlight. According to BlackFilm, Copley has been offered a role in the big screen adaptation of The A-Team. At the moment the cast features Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Liam Neeson as Hannibal, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus.
I love moments like this. Moments where you know something pretty amazing is about to happen… That things might actually change for the better. I am giddy for the rest of the world, and for you. At 12:00 a.m., on August 135h, District 9 a new film directed by Neill Blomkamp (watch interview part 1, part 2) produced by Peter Jackson, and starring Sharlto Copley (watch interview) is going to be unleashed upon unsuspecting moviegoers. And if you’re smart, you’ll have your ass in one of those seats and your shoes stuck to the ground from spilled Cherry Pepsi.

It’s time to put up or shut up. After what seems like a lifetime of marketing, the highly anticipated film District 9 will hit theaters this Friday. It’s directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson. It’s led by a relatively unknown South African actor, and the same goes for it’s supporting cast. Does it live up to the hype?
