When the original American Pie came out in 1999, it was a surprise hit and generated two quick sequels – both successful, but they could tell they wore out the original cast, while a number of DTV films were generated as spin-offs. Now for 2012′s American Reunion, everyone’s come back. In some cases because they’ve got nothing better to do. Check out the new trailer…

When American Pie was released in the summer of 1999, it was a surprise $100 Million hit and spawned two theatrical sequels and then four direct-to-video spin-offs. Which raises the question: would the upcoming American Reunion be the fourth or eighth film in the franchise? Regardless of its placement, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Seann William Scott have been signed for Reunion, the third theatrical sequel to the hit franchise. The film has been written by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and the two (who also wrote and directed Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) are also scheduled to direct.

Kevin Smith may have trouble squeezing into an airplane seat, but he’s got no problem filling the director’s chair for his latest film, Cop Out. The film puts an R-rated comedic spin on the buddy cop genre with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan starring as veteran NYPD officers attempting to track down some stolen baseball cards. Unfortunately, Smith was able to derive more entertainment from his recent Southwest-bashing tweets than he was from this feature film.

That’s all folks! Kevin could go on all night, but he’s gotta wrapped it up. This panel was hilarious and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
6:24: He was just asked him if he would ever put Nicolas Cage in any of his movies. He said by the time he started making movie Cage was already pretty famous, and he usually works with unknown actors.
6:21: Kevin Smith is making fun of Christian Bale’s Batman voice! I think he’s saying what we all are thinking.

Starring: Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bobb’e J. Thompson
Directed by: David Wain
So I went into this film with meager expectations despite the promising cast and director (Stella’s David Wain) attached to the project. Having expected mediocrity proved to be a blessing in disguise as I was overwhelmed with the amount of laughter that Role Models was able to produce from myself and the entire audience. And I am speaking completely on a literal level. There was a middle-aged man in the theater that was asked to leave because he was laughing so loudly.

New to cinemas this weekend, is Role Models starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott in a comedy about two energy drink salesmen who trash a company truck and have to spend 150 hours in a mentorship program instead of going to jail. The film is directed by David Wain and written by David Wain and Paul Rudd. Is it worth you $10? Overall critics seem to think it’s formulaic, but funny enough to make it worth your time. THR: Writer-director David Wain jumps effectively into the movie mainstream with “Role Models,” a comedy that retains a bit of the sensibility and many cast members familiar from his previous films but should have no problem connecting with a wider audience… It’s a self-improvement comedy that hits every beat on time. – By John DeFore

Role Models is a new comedy about two guys who are about to get locked up for destroying public property, but thanks to their good lawyer friend, they only have to mentor two children for their community service. I’m guessing they find themselves through helping others. Normally I wouldn’t be to into a film like this, but it stars Elizabeth Banks, Jane Lynch, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Paul Rudd, and Seann William Scott, and that’s enough to get me there.
Role Models is set for releases on November 7th. Check out this exclusive clip below…
