saw The Saw Series is Coming to an End

Someone in the big blue sky heard our prayers and decided to put the long running Saw franchise out of its misery. When Saw VI hit theaters last month it was mostly overlooked due to the phenomenon that is Paranormal Activity. It debuted at number 2 with 14 million dollars as compared to the larger numbers previous installments have produced. box office09 10 26 Weekend Box Office: The Rise of the 15k Film!

Wow. Just to show how viral campaigning and word of mouth can topple the opening of a gigantic franchise, Paranormal Activity in it’s fifth week in theaters took down Saw VI with a swift kick to the knees. Paramount must be so happy right now. They are just living the dream of taking a small movie and blowing it up as big as it can possibly go.

With the economy as it is and studios in trouble, you can bet we are going to see a lot of movies about this time next year trying to emulate Paranormal‘s success. Don’t tell me that’s not tempting, especially when you see so many mainstream films missing the mark..

There are a number of new releases this week that were expected to do better. Check out the numbers and discuss the disappointments below… Continue Reading

It’s just not professional to start an article with “ahhhhhh,” so I won’t degrade myself to that level, even though it’s how I honestly feel.
