Yesterday an international trailer of the Russian variety popped up online for Angelina Jolie’s upcoming action thriller, Salt. Today over on Yahoo, they finally debuted the American version of the teaser, and it’s pretty much the same footage, but in glorious HD and in English!

We finally have our first live action look at Angelina Jolie in the upcoming spy thriller, Salt. Her character is being described as Jason Bourne in a skirt, which I’m not sure is a compliment or a sexist remark but either way it means she’s a bad ass. A high quality Russian trailer has popped up online for the film, and we get to Jolie in all her action glory.

Angelina Jolie was caught filming a hard core action scene recently for her upcoming film, Salt. Jolie stars as a government agent who’s forced to prove her innocence when she is accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. She goes on the run to find out who’s behind her set up, and uses her special ops training to get information. The film was originally set to star Tom Cruise as the lead, but when he backed out Jolie was offered the film. The character was changed from Edwin to Evelyn Salt and the rest is history.

If you enjoyed Angelina Jolie in the summer action flick Wanted, you’re probably one of the many who are anticipating her latest film Salt. Jolie goes from assassin to spy in the movie, which originally had Tom Cruise attached as it’s star. Jolie will play Evelyn A. Salt, whom was previously known as Edwin when Cruise was in talks for the role. Over at USA Today, they have posted the first photos of the actress as the spy who the film’s producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura claims is “a character you never know.” Salt is directed by Phillip Noyce, and co-stars Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It looks as if X-Men Origins: Wolverine front man Liev Schreiber will be moonlighting as an action star for a while. According to CinemaBlend, Schreiber is in negotiations to star opposite Angelina Jolie in the spy thriller, Salt. In the film “Angelina plays a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. She must elude capture long enough to prove her innocence.” Schreiber’s character is for lack of a better word “top secret” at the moment, but sources say it’s a major role. Salt will be directed by Phil Noyce and starts principal photography next month in New York City.
Angelina Jolie is a busy woman. Not only will she be taking Tom Cruise’s role in SALT but now they’re reworking the role that was originally written for a man because, hey, she’s Angelina Jolie. She’ll start shooting that in 2009, and we’ll keep you updated until them.
For now we can check out her new poster for Clint Eastwood’s latest film CHANGELING starring Jolie and Malkovich. CHANGELING looks like a role made for Angelina. It’s the story of a mother who had her son kidnapped and then allegedly brought back to her. The problem is, they brought her the wrong kid, and when she tried to tell them they lock her away in a mental institution. She’s a mother, she’s fighting people for what’s right, and people think she’s crazy, it’s perfect. If there’s one thing we know about Jolie from GIA and GIRL, INTERUPTED she knows how to tackle strong female roles.
