The hit musical Rock of Ages took many of the kitschy but lovably sincere rock anthems of the 1980′s and Broadway-ized them. So who better to head up the film adaptation than Adam Shankman, who gave Hairspray a similar stage-to-screen treatment? The film – which stars Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand and Malin Ackerman – hits theaters June 1, 2012, but now there’s a trailer. Check it out.

Though he’s got a full plate, it appears that Ben Stiller has signed on for 20th Century Fox’s Rentaghost. Though no director is currently attached, it appears Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garrant (the scribes of Stiller’s Night at the Museum movies) have been hired to get a working draft in order – according to Deadline Hollywood. When not busy writing hacky, gimmick-ridden dialogue that is occasionally saved by the stellar acting skills of a film’s lead actress (Juno), and is sometimes not (Jennifer’s Body), Diablo Cody has decided to direct her first film, Lamb of God. And now, she’s got two leads to either crumble beneath or shine in spite of her florid screenplay dialogue—Russell Brand and Julianne Hough.

Mediocrity here we come! Arthur is nothing if it isn’t that. It’s not bad enough to really be horrible or offensive, there are enough jokes to make you chuckle all the way through (provided you haven’t already seen them in the trailer), and the cast is extremely easy to watch – BUT the fact is, this is a mainstream, easy for everyone to consume, take no risks comedy. But hey, it’s not all bad…

This week Hop springs into theaters. Directed by Alvin and the Chipmunks‘ Tim Hill, and starring James Marsden and the voice of Russell Brand, this kids film tries to play both to adults and children alike. It’s also a film that tries to create a mythology for Easter – not one based on the resurrection of Christ but one that gives something of a history and plan for the holiday. Check our review below…

HOP TRAILER – Easter’s on the way and with it comes the tale of a fluffy little bunny trying to follow his dream — to become a drummer. Hop mixes a number of different ideas and styles – there are number of adult ideas (including some different types of Hollywood bunnies) with a sweet, kiddy story and a mixture of art animation with live action. Seems like it’s taking it all on at once! Will it be amazing or will it be bunny droppings (which are in the trailer not suprirsingly – nothing like a but of poo humor)? We’ll have our review for you soon but until then check out the trailer and some more pictures from the film…

A new trailer for the Arthur remake with Russell Brand has hit the net. The previous one was pretty funny but it was missing one important element — Greta Gerwig. She’s the lady who plays the real love of Arthur’s life, yet she didn’t get any screentime in the first trailer. She’s not exactly plastered all over this version either, but she gets something. Take a look…

Last week, the first poster for the upcoming Arthur remake was finally released. The film stars Russell Brand as the title character, and Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner as two very important women in his life. All three of the actors appeared on the one sheet, which was missing one major element — Greta Gerwig. The actress plays Brand’s love interest in the film and she was nowhere to be found, until now. Check out the new poster below…
