ryan gosling drive9 13 11 Drive: Movie Review

Get ready for Drive. The modern 80′s-esq, dramatic, action film about a driver who knows how to do one thing damn well. From the unique characters, to the stellar performances across the board, this risky film sets its unique tone from the start and carries it through to the bitter end. With its risky style of shooting, to the willfully strong perspective of the director, this film is one to see and one that will surely win awards in the coming months. There’s no doubt that this is your best pick for the weekend, possibly the year…

conan the barbarian8 19 11 Conan The Barbarian: Movie Review

That’s right, Conan is back in yet another beefy form in the 2011 adaptation Conan the Barbarian. Jason Mamoa, the man who has recently caught the attention of audiences for his massive physique and his role on the hit TV series “Game of Thrones” suits up, or rather, takes it of, for his latest role as the epic character. It’s hard to really critique a film like this, because its goal is not something I seek out in films. It’s specifically tailored to fans of Conan and action, dramas with nearly no humor or character development. That being said, for what it was, the film was a good time and had some of the best 3D that I’ve seen in a while…

conan jason momao on horseback 16 7 10 kc Red Band Conan The Barbarian Trailer Crushes Heads

It’s hard to know what to make of the Conan the Barbarian reboot. Will Jason Momoa have the same appeal as Arnold Schwarzenegger did when he took on the role? Will Marcus Nispel deliver a quality sword and sandal epic, or will this be another big budget film that ends up looking like a slightly more expensive Syfy movie? Hard to say, but the film is going for the R rating, and this trailer highlights some of that bloodshed. Check it out…

At first glance the title Bunraku might sound like the latest Japanese anime to hit the streets but it’s not. It’s a live action film from writer-director Guy Moshe that stars Josh Hartnett, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Ron Perlman. Bunraku is one of the many films that will be screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, which is why the first official photos from the movie have been released. To say that these images are visually interesting would be an understatement…

Nothing against Ron Perlman aka Hellboy, but I was really looking forward to seeing Mickey Rourke in the upcoming Conan remake. According to recent reports the Academy Award nominated actor has been replaced in the film by Perlman who will now take over the role of Corin, the title character’s dad. He’ll also be joined by G.I. Joe alum Said Taghmaoui who played Breaker in the summer blockbuster.

ISellTheDead1 I Sell the Dead: Movie Review

This is the stuff Halloween tales are made of! The IFC film I Sell the Dead, is a quirky and eerie story that has all the elements of Gothic folklore. It’s a period piece that mixes greed, murder, vampires, and zombies to create an old fashioned horror fest! When I say old fashioned, I literally mean old fashioned, the film takes place in the 19th century. It stars Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Lord of the Rings) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) as two men on the opposite side of the law and the spirit world. Throw in a pending execution, and a bottle of whisky, and you’ve got I Sell the Dead!
