It’s been a long time since I felt the need to say this, but “Oh snap!” According to Variety, Josh Brolin and Matt Damon are in talks to star in the Coen Brothers remake of True Grit. That’s right, the 1969 western that earned John Wayne his Oscar is still being remade by the duo. As we previously announced last month, Jeff Bridges will take on Wayne’s famous role as Cogburn, a man out for revenge.

The title is a mouthful, but Reykjavik-Rotterdam is the name of an Icelandic thriller that’s being remade for American audiences. The film is set up at Working Title, and according to THR it will be a star vehicle for Mark Wahlberg. This will be another project that can be added to the actor’s already busy schedule that includes The Other Guys, Date Night, and his continuous producing duties on HBO’s Entourage.

The Louis Leterrier remake of the campy eighties epic Clash of the Titans is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26th of next year, but it’s already landed the cover of Empire Magazine. Sam Worthington takes a stand as the film’s hero Perseus, one of the many bastard children of the god Zeus. The character was originally played by Harry Hamlin and as you can see, Worthington’s take on Perseus is a lot grittier.
Take a look at the full Empire cover…

Music video turned feature film director Marc Webb has gained plenty of acclaim for his debut film, 500 Days of Summer. With one of the best reviewed movies of the year, it’s no surprise that Webb has been tapped to take on a new project in the same spirit. The film is Just Another Love Story, an American remake of the Danish thriller that was originally directed by Ole Bornedal in 2008.

This story goes into what I’d like to call the WTF category. According to THR, director David Cronenberg will reteam with 20th Century Fox to remake the 1986 sci-fi classic, The Fly. Cronenberg directed the earlier version of the film that starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. Fox already had plans to remake The Fly without Cronenberg’s involvement, due to his expressed lack of interest. I wonder what changed his mind?

Here’s a piece of unnecessary development news. According to THR, George A. Romero’s 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead is getting the pseudo-remake treatment. The new film will be entitled Night of the Living Dead: Origins. That’s right, they’re going all X-Men on a piece of cinematic history. The film will also be laced with two things that will take away from its campy roots, excessive CGI and 3-D.
