We catch a lot of entertainment news here at ScreenCrave, but sometimes a few bits and pieces can fall between the cracks—which is why we’ve gathered together a few loose strands of recent casting news for you. This weekend prepare yourself for the return of The Crazies. The original film was directed by George A. Romero and debuted in theaters in 1973. Over 30 years later, Breck Eisner is attempting to bring the tale to a new generation of fans with the help of Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, and Danielle Panabaker. A new featurette has been released and it shows all the pandemonium that’s been generated by this oldie but goodie horror classic.

Jump scares are not my cup of tea but in the realm of horror, suspense is prime. Breck Eisner‘s remake of the 1973 film The Crazies (by George A. Romero) is like a frightening haunted house on Halloween but with one exception, these players will kill you. When I first saw the trailer, I was completely intrigued because it suggested a good story, with enough scares to make it a solid horror film — but did the actual product live up to those high expectations?

The first trailer for the graphic novel adaptation Surrogates has been released. The film stars Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, and Radha Mitchell. The story focuses on a man as he investigates several mysterious deaths that he believes are connected to a government program. The program is extremely high tech and allows people to buy flawless surrogate (robot) versions of themselves. They vicariously live through them and have the ability to live out any and all their outlandish fantasies. This all sounds like a great idea until someone ends up dead and you can’t tell who’s who when trying to catch the culprit.
Check out the trailer after the jump.
