Canada’s version of Entertainment Tonight recently ran a behind the scenes segment on the upcoming Scott Stewart film, Priest. The manga adaptation reunites the director with his Legion star Paul Bettany and features a cast of actors who know a thing or two about vampires. I’m talking Stephen Moyer from “True Blood” and Cam Gigandet from Twilight (those two always come to ahead don’t they?).
No big budget film is safe these days from Hollywood’s obsession with 3D. Scott Stewart’s upcoming live action adaptation of Priest is the latest project to fall victim to the trend. According to THR, Screen Gems has not only decided to convert it to 3D, but they’ve also pushed back the release date.
This weekend, writer and first time director Scott Stewart will debut his action-thriller Legion to the masses. It’s a tale about the second coming of the apocalypse at the hand of a legion of angels. God sends his most trusted soldier Michael to unleash Hell on earth to punish mankind for their disobedience. Instead of carrying out his wishes, the Archangel has a change of heart and decides to protect the people instead.
Paul Bettany makes his action hero debut as Michael, the only hope earth has after God sends in reinforcements led by his right hand angel, Gabriel. Between the actor and the director there was plenty to talk about regarding not only Legion, but their upcoming graphic novel adaptation, Priest. The Scott Stewart adaptation Priest, has been filming in the Los Angles area for the past few weeks. With production underway, they’re still in the midst of making casting deals. Stewart announced on his official Twitter page that Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the ever growing cast of the film, but that’s not all. It also broke that actress Madchen Amick also signed on to co-star. Three actors in one day, such a coup for the director.

True Blood star Stephen Moyer just got hired for a feature film gig. According to Empire the British actor has joined the cast of Scott Stewart’s, upcoming film Priest, which is a live action adaptation of the novel with the same name. The current cast already includes Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, and Karl Urban.

New Zealand actor and Star Trek alum Karl Urban has landed another gig. According to THR, the actor has been cast in the Scott Stewart adaptation of Priest. He will star as the bad guy opposite Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet. This news comes pretty late in the game considering production on the film starts next week! More on Priest below.
Mission Impossible and Die Hard alum Maggie Q has latched on to another high profile project. According to THR, the actress has signed on to co-star in the upcoming live action adaptation of Priest. The film currently stars Paul Bettany as the title character, and Twilight’s Cam Gigandet as his sidekick.

An official website has been launched for the upcoming adaptation of the Tokyo Pop comic, Priest. The film will star Paul Bettany (Legion) as the title character, along with Twilight’s Cam Gigandet. The film’s story ” is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.” The following image has popped up on the official Sony website for the film, and was also shown at the tail end of the Legion Comic-Con panel last weekend.
