Back in November it was announced that writer, director, and actor Mike White would helm the highly anticipated adaptation of the campy novel, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Unfortunately, another one has bit the dust and White is no longer attached to the project. Over at Deadline, they broke the news and revealed that the director is up and out because of a scheduling conflict.

Over the past few weeks, Lionsgate has been looking for a new director to take on their feature adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The last time we checked, Mike White was the front runner in the group of candidates that included Jonathan Demme, Matt Reeves, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Mike Newell, David Slade, and Neil Marshall. Today it’s been confirmed that the studio has given him an official offer to direct.

We have a brief update on the status of the feature adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. After director and screenwriter David O’ Russell left the project several weeks ago there was a huge question mark regarding who could pick up where he left off. A shortlist of directors were mentioned as possible contenders for the job and one of them seem to have the upper hand – Mike White.

Natalie Portman has been dropping out of projects left and right as of late. Just yesterday it was announced that she opted not to star as the lead in Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming sci-fi pic Gravity. Now the studio and director are hoping that Sandra Bullock will step in and save the day. In that article, we also wrote that she might leave the adaptation Pride and Prejudice and Zombies because of possible scheduling conflicts and today, it’s been confirmed. She’s out of that too!
