Well, last night, here in lovely Los Angeles, the most pointless of all pointless awards ceremonies was held in the Nokia Theatre: The People’s Choice Awards. Stars showed up, were given wholly arbitrary statuettes in a symbolic ritual the masturbatory self-congratulation that fuels this lovely city and industry. Curious who won? Another awards show has come and gone but this one was controlled by us — by the people! The 2011 People’s Choice Awards took place Wednesday night in Los Angeles, and to the shock and awe of no one, Twilight managed to swoop in and steal some of the top honors including Favorite Movie and Favorite Drama Movie for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The nominees for the 2011 People’s Choice Awards have been announced and they’re definitely a mixed bag of “talent.” The third film in Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse dominates the majority of the film and acting categories. And someone, somewhere thought it was OK to put Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio in the same category as Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. That’s just wrong! Also, like everything else in popular culture “Jersey Shore,” has managed to earn a spot on the show in the Guiltiest Pleasure category along with several other reality shows that most of us are ashamed to admit we watch.

The winners have been announced for the 36th Annual People’s Choice Awards, and the results weren’t that surprising. The most popular shows, movies and actors dominated the night including The Twilight Saga, Sandra Bullock and Johnny Depp for film, while “House” and “The Big Bang Theory” took home top honors in television.
The amount of Twilight love that was given out during the show was unnerving. For a moment there the People’s Choice Awards looked like they were produced by MTV, and we all know how MTV loves their vampires and werewolves.

The nominees for the 2010 People’s Choice Awards have been revealed, and it looks like the ceremony will be led by werewolves and vampires. Twilight will dominate this year’s show after earning nods in seven categories including Favorite Movie, Favorite On-Screen Team, Favorite Movie Actor for Robert Pattinson, Favorite Movie Actress for Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner for Favorite Breakout Actor.
