According to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, December 7 is a date that lives in infamy because of the events that happened in 1941. This was the pivotal day that Japan attacked the Pearl Harbor naval base in Hawaii, which catapulted the U.S.’s involvement in World War II. Throughout Hollywood’s long and lush history many directors have tackled the various wars that this country has fought. It’s almost a rite of passage for some, therefore in 2001 we shouldn’t have been surprised when Bad Boys helmer Michael Bay grabbed Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, and traveled to Hawaii to make a movie and blow some sh*t up!

Michael Bay Why Michael Bay Should Only Make 90 Minute Movies

As I type this the Michael Bay blockbuster Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is already nearing…wait… just passed $400 million dollars in worldwide ticket sales. The film is the follow up to 2007′s Transformers, which also spawned massive success across the globe. We all know how easy it is for bloggers, critics, and journalists to harp on Bay for being an over-hyped and over-paid director. I actually wrote an article examining this entitled, “Why Does Everyone Hate Michael Bay?” After watching Transformers ROTF, paired with my past viewing experience of Pearl Harbor I think I’ve found the answer.
