For those of you who enjoyed your encounter with Stephen Sommer‘s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra last summer, there’s more to come. We all had a feeling that another Joe film would be in the works, but no official writer was attached to take on the project. But over at Collider, they’ve got word that a scribe has been hired for a new film, which means Paramount has every intention of moving along with the sequel.

This past weekend the Ruben Fleischer horror-comedy Zombieland dominated the box office with a cool 25 million dollar opening, which isn’t bad for an R-rated movie. Many positive reviews have come in from both fans and critics, so it’s no surprise that sequel rumors are starting to circulate. Over at MTV, they spoke to the film’s screenwriter Paul Wernick who seems to be more than happy to work on a follow up.

Grab the nearest thing to you that could be considered a weapon and come on down to Zombieland, where you get points for the most creative way to kill a zombie! Actually, leave the weapons at home, Ruben Fleischer’s film will supply you with all the comedic violence you’ll need. If you loved Drag Me to Hell you’ll be glad to see that there is another movie out there for you to laugh at cringe all at the same time.

The writing duo of the upcoming film Zombieland, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, were hired by Sony to write the new Spider-Man spin-off. According to the two writers, the script is already being written and is top secret.
“We’re under strict orders on Venom,” Wernick said. “We can’t talk about it. It’s just super secret.”
Although, the two writers did give a little something up. They admitted to being huge fans of the villain of the upcoming film, Venom and are making sure that their research and portrayal of Venom is not half-assed (i.e Spider-Man 3).
