“So, a friend of mind dragged me to see Obsessed this weekend.” That was the opening line I was fed this morning while at work. As I sat at my desk a male co-worker vented about the experience he had when he saw the Beyonce Knowles, Idris Elba stalker flick Obsessed. The film debuted at number one for the weekend of April 24 and raked in a healthy 28 million dollars. It outperformed studio estimates, which had the film pegged to debut in the mid-teen range. So what happened here? How did Obsessed become the little engine that could? Was it the actors, was it the story, or was there just nothing else to see?

If there’s one thing we know Hollywood loves, it’s obsessed crazy women. This past weekend Obsessed, was released into theaters and came up as the number one film at the box office.
With the new movie doing so well, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the insanely one-minded, overly-attached, and uncontrollably fixated women in film. Enjoy.

There are a few movies that look pretty good this week. First off, Earth looks pretty amazing. Then again, I’m a total sucker for those space, ocean, and animal documentaries. The cinematography tends to be pretty epic, and I’m willing to bet that Disney will keep with that tradition. Plus for every ticket sold, a tree will be planted in critical regions. Yay! The other movie that looks pretty interesting is Tyson, the new documentary about Mike Tyson. The movie has gotten surprisingly good reviews. The Informers is a fun flashback to the coked out 80′s and you never know, The Soloist might be considered Oscar-worthy, might be worth checking out now.
Unfortunately, the rest is up to you, depending on what you’re willing to risk your money on.
Here are the movie releases for Friday, April 24:

How can Beyonce and Ali Larter getting into a cat-fight look so dull to me? This just looks like a bad TVshow. Talk about over-dramatic move in or pull out shots.
Beyonce has done so many great films recently, why this? This looks like it’s her first one post-singing career. I mean seriously, Beyonce could snap Ali Larter like a twig if she really wanted to. Why even bother?
I’m not digging this trailer at all. Check it out below and tell us what you think…
