DVD Releases are very comedy heavy this week as Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Observe and Report bring the late-spring funny to DVD store shelves.
Also, as TV Season gets underway, it’s one of the last chances to catch up with last season as several shows release last year’s seasons on DVD including huge hits “30 Rock” and “The Mentalist.” And, as always, the three worst DVDs of the week.

Surprise, surprise, the tweens rule the world. Zac Efron’s baby blues were just too much for the public to resist (or was it Matthew Perry’s… something?). Apparently there’s only room for one teen-star in a weekend, as Hannah Montana’s audience basically abandoned her for Efron. Not even Russel Crowe could pull in Efron’s numbers despite his ability to actually act in an interesting film.
As for the two most offensive movies on the list, Crank 2: High Voltage and Observe and Report, neither of them seem to be winning over audiences. Crank 2, did not manage to beat it’s predecessor Crank, in its return to theaters. (Maybe that’s because they didn’t allow press to screen the film and write review? Just a thought!) And apparently people only want to see Seth Rogen soft and cuddly, not violent and pathetic.
The only film that really seems the be holding strong is Monsters vs. Aliens. It’s held on to it’s number three spot for weeks now. Nothing better then a good animation!
Check out this weeks top ten below…

Observe and Report is not for the easily offended, the squeamish, the anti-violent, or those of your who don’t understand real, in your face sarcasm. This is not a feel good comedy. There are NO characters that you side with or feel for. They are all truly horrible people that you watch slowly destroy their lives through their own stupidity.
If you can handle all of this, then you are going to LOVE this movie…

This week is fairly slow in terms of movie releases. The movies worth seeing, if you are over the age of 13, are Observe and Report or Anvil! The Story of Anvil. Observe and Report stars Seth Rogen as a bipolar mall cop on the search for a flasher that has been plaguing his mall, all the while trying to capture the heart of the hot cosmetic clerk, Anna Faris. If you need another reason to see the film, check our feature on why this film must beat Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
Anvil! is a documentary about the Canadian metal band, Anvil, who were famous over twenty years ago, but through mismanagement and mistakes, have been completely forgotten. The movie has received great reviews, and the trailer looks amazing.
For those who have kids to entertain or you are around the age of 13, you may want to see either Dragonball: Evolution or Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Here are the movie releases for April 10:

Seth Rogen and Anna Faris are so wrong and yet so right together. Rogen’s plump, unattractive, self-loving mall cop perfectly contrasts Faris’ playboy, make-up counter, character. Their differences unit in the fact that both actors pushed their roles to the extreme. Both of them have created two equally un-likeable characters that you can’t help but enjoy watching them in painful situations.
What’s so great about this film is that you don’t have to side with the characters at all. This is not a film where you laugh with the characters, this is a film where you laugh AT the characters, thanks to both of their stellar and unique performances.
A few weeks ago, the recently trimmed down Seth Rogen and the plumped up Anna Faris sat down with a group of us to talk about their work in Observe and Report.

There are many unanswered questions in the universe. Why am I here? Does God exist? What makes me happy? I have a question, How did Paul Blart: Mall Cop make so much money? It was such a bad movie! It wasn’t even funny. Unfortunately, I was forced to see the movie. It’s a long story involving foreigners, language barriers, and nothing else to see. Perhaps, it made money because of reasons similar to mine?
The plot of the movie could have been pretty funny. It’s so easy to make fun of the mall cops; they are the stereotypical rejects from the police academy. They always wanted to be a cop, but just didn’t make the cut. Then add in the subplot with the awkward, fat guy on a quest to win over the hot girl. All of this together could have been really entertaining, but it really fell short. It’s disappointing that such a bad movie did that well. But, Seth Rogen is coming back, with Observe and Report, as an answer to the failed mall cop movie. Hopefully, it does as well, if not better, than its disappointing predecessor.

The Paul Blart that should have been, or rather, that will soon be. Time for some real comedy. Two new posters of Seth Rogen from Observe and Report have just surfaced. The posters show us exactly what we need, Seth Rogen in character. He has enough of a resume now that, that is really all that’s needed.
Check them out below, but be careful! He’s is watching you…

To say that Seth Rogen had a very good ‘07-‘08 run would be a gross understatement. No other actor under thirty, save for Michael Cera, has crashed the spotlight so readily. Knocked Up literally put his face all over town, but then he unleashed the perverse, endearing Superbad (as brilliant as Cera’s work is, the point still goes to Rogen), and built a cache of action cred in Pineapple Express.
Now Hollywood has been desperately trying to categorize him. But they’re wrong. He’s not the new Will Ferrell. He sure as hell isn’t the new Chevy Chase, and if his ballsy upcoming slate says anything, it’s that the studios are slowly but surely figuring that out.
Rogen talks with Screencrave about his personal stake in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, why audiences should look past the title, and why they should be ready to see a whole lot more of him. Figuratively speaking.
