Ben Stiller takes a more dramatic turn this week in the dark comedy Greenberg, from the master of misanthropy, Noah Baumbach. Of course, comedy is only a loose term here as there really isn’t anything funny about this film, nor is there anything that one might consider entertaining, or enlightening, or, well, watchable.

Greenberg is the latest film directed by Noah Baumbach and stars Ben Stiller, Rhys Ifans, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The Wrap is reporting that Greenberg director Noah Baumbach has signed on to replace Ron Howard as the director of The Emperor’s Children, an adaptation of Claire Messud’s 2006 novel. Howard has opted instead to produce the film with his frequent collaborator, Brian Grazer.

The movie is about Greenberg (Ben Stiller) who is at a crossroads in his life. He doesn’t have a job and has no real intention of finding one. He begins house-sitting for his younger brother, and reconnecting with old friends. However, he finds himself spending time instead with his brother’s personal assistant Florence (Greta Gerwig), an aspiring singer and herself something of a lost soul. The film stars Ben Stiller, Rhys Ifans, Greta Gerwig, and Jeniffer Jason Leigh.

A trailer has been released for the latest film from Squid and the Whale director Noah Baumbach. The movie is entitled Greenberg and stars Ben Stiller as the title character, which features the actor taking a somewhat dramatic turn opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rhys Ifans, and Greta Gerwig.

Noah Baumbach the man behind the Academy Award nominated feature The Squid and the Whale is writing and directing a new film entitled Greenberg. According to THR, funnyman Ben Stiller and indie darling Greta Gerwig have been cast to star opposite one another in the relationship dramedy. Gerwig is best known for her roles in the independent feature’s Baghead and Hannah Takes the Stairs.
