I never thought that I would be interested in any aspect of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, but somethings changed. According to the famed horror site BloodyDisguting, Watchmen alum Jackie Earle Haley is close to inking a deal to star as Freddy Krueger! What?!! That’s the first thing that came to mind for me. I am in utter shock. This info has been swirling around for months but the site confirms exclusively that the actor is in final negotiations to star as the claw-yielding child killer.

With the release of the new Friday the 13th set to hit  theaters this weekend, New Line Cinema has fast tracked the production process for their revamp of Nightmare on Elm Street. According to THR, the studio has found a director for the project, and could start principal photography as early as this spring. Samuel Bayer has been attached to direct, and will be making his feature film debut with the remake.
