Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds will butt heads in the DreamWorks animated comedy The Croods. Set in prehistoric times, Cage will voice Crug, a tribal leader who ushers his people after an earthquake destroys their home and Reynolds’ character will be the modern nomad who scares Crug out of his old ways. The first theatrical trailer has been released for Jon Turteltaub’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The film stars Nicolas Cage as the sorcerer in question and Jay Baruchel as his apprentice. In all honesty after watching the footage a couple of times the movie looks mediocre, but it does have some good parts.

It was literally a blink and you missed it kind of a thing, so Lionsgate decided to put out a new one. The theatrical trailer obviously shows a lot more footage, but it still doesn’t help the direct to DVD quality it has going on.

The stars of Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes and Jennifer Coolidge – held court in the Four Seasons together with director Werner Herzog last week. The movie got its US premiere at the AFI Festival and the positive reactions there and in Toronto promise a good showing in theaters.
Cage plays a drug-addicted, procedure-ignoring police lieutenant in New Orleans just post-Katrina; Mendes is his high-class prostitute lover; Coolidge is his booze-sodden stepmother; and Werner Herzog is one of the world’s greatest living directors, famed for his visionary features of the seventies (Even Dwarves Started Small, Aguirre Wrath of God, Heart of Glass, tho little to match that work since 1982’s Fitzcarraldo) and for his idiosyncratic documentaries (Little Dieter Needs to Fly, My Best Fiend, Grizzly Man). The movie will be a family fantasy film, (the three f’s), that will include some elements from the classic animated feature Fantasia. A few new posters have popped up online for the upcoming Matthew Vaughn comic adaptation, Kick-Ass. The little engine that could is slowly but surely making its way to theaters and to jumpstart its promotion Lionsgate has released four banners from the film. They feature Aaron Johnson as the title character, Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist, and Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy.

This has been a rough couple of weeks for actor Nicolas Cage. Earlier last month stories surfaced that the actor was broke and filing for bankruptcy and then just last week his father August unexpectedly died. The elder Coppola passed away from a heart attack at the age of 75. Understandably, Cage has decided to back out of his work and future public appearances to mourn his father’s death.
