In my opinion District 9 is taking entirely too long to hit theaters. Every time I turn around there’s a new trailer making me want to watch the film in it’s entirety right now. The film won’t be released until August 14, but Sony Studios has been dropping promotional pieces left and right. The latest is the third theatrical trailer for the Neill Blomkamp, Peter Jackson collaboration, which takes a look at greed, segregation, and politics from a sci-fi perspective.
A full length theatrical trailer has just been released for Neill Blomkamp’s District 9. The film is produced by Peter Jackson and follows the relentless pursuit of extraterrestrials in South Africa. District 9 is a high concept film about a race of aliens who land on earth and instead of taking over the planet, they become second class citizens among humans. Set for release on August 19th, the latest trailer gives us a better look a the film’s storyline.

The website for the new Neill Blomkamp film, District 9, has an officially been launched (this is different from the D-9 interactive website you may have already played with). It is actually kind of cool. You can view the South African slums where the ship landed, you can watch the trailer, and explore other parts of the movie. There is all sorts of new interactive material for the new movie.
In case you don’t know, District 9 is about a group of alien refugees who land in South Africa. A giant corporation is trying to reveal the technology behind their weapons, but they need alien DNA to unlock the mystery. A man contracts a strange virus, and he turns out to be the key to understanding the aliens weaponry. The only place the man can hide is in District 9.
If you’re one of the many fans awaiting the debut trailer for the sci-fi film District 9, the wait is almost over. Many of us were falsely led to believe that the trailer for the film would be attached to the Jason Statham flick, Crank:High Voltage. That turned out to be a pile of crap, and viewers got nothing. That was the bad news, the good news is that the lies may soon come to an end. According to FilmSchoolRejects, District 9′s trailer will debut in front of this weekend’s front runner X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
