This morning I stumbled across some interesting casting news regarding the new “it” franchise, Twilight. The film’s cast is sprinkled with former child stars who finally got their time to shine with more mature material. Therefore, wouldn’t it’s sequel New Moon be the perfect vehicle for another young lady to begin making her transition into more adult roles? According to EOnline, a source close to the film stated that Dakota Fanning might soon take a bite out of the film, by stepping into the role of “Jane”. Yep, you read that right!

Current Disney teen queen, Vanessa Hudgens may be on the right track to shedding her High School Musical image. For starters, Hudgens has been rumored to star in the Twilight sequel New Moon as the werewolf character Leah Clearwater. At first this was all speculation, and people were just tossing around the idea, but now according to MTV,the actress has taken the necessary steps to make the role hers!

As I reported yesterday, Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) will not be returning to direct the Twilight sequel, New Moon. Instead she and Summit Entertainment have decided to part ways. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, director Chris Weitz is being courted to replace Hardwicke for the sequel. Weitz directing credits include About a Boy, and The Golden Compass.

Catherine Hardwicke, the woman who directed the successful teenage, vampire love story Twilight, has been given the axe. Hardwicke has not been asked back to the directors chair for the films sequel, New Moon. According to Variety, Hardwicke’s desire to take her time with the films script, would push back the studios production schedule, and that would cause major problems.

The film is about, Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) an astronaut nearing the end of his three-year contract with Lunar. He has had to live by himself on the moon Selene, to mine for Helium 3 which holds the key to preserving earth. Two weeks shy of his homecoming, Sam starts to see and hear things.
